There is no single Sims 4 aging cheat. To stop aging, you change a setting: open Game Options, go to Gameplay and set Auto Age (Played Sims) to No (and turn off Auto Age for unplayed Sims if you want the whole world frozen). To change a Sim’s age instantly, up or down, use testingcheats true, then cas.fulleditmode, then Shift-click the Sim and choose Modify in CAS. Both work on PC, Mac, PlayStation and Xbox. On console, the CAS method turns off Trophies and Achievements for that save.

EA’s official list has no console command that switches aging off, and none that ages a Sim up or down one stage. Some cheat sites list direct age commands. They aren’t on EA’s list, so they aren’t in this guide. Sims Community, which documents them, recommends the CAS method instead and warns that one of them kills elders. Everything here is vanilla: no mods and no script cheats.
How to turn off aging in Sims 4
Aging is controlled in the game’s settings, not the cheat console:
- Open the options menu. On PC and Mac, click the three-dot menu. On PlayStation and Xbox, open the pause menu.
- Choose Game Options, then the Gameplay tab.
- Set Auto Age (Played Sims) to No. This covers every household you have played. The setting also has an active-household-only option, which ages just the family you are playing right now.
- Turn off Auto Age (Unplayed Sims) as well if you want townies and other households frozen too.
Game Rant notes that this stops aging indefinitely but doesn’t take anyone back a life stage. Sims who are already elders stay elders. To make a Sim younger, use the CAS method below.
Base-game settings can’t freeze one Sim while the rest of the household ages. The aging switch applies to whole groups (played, unplayed or the active household). How to age up or age down a Sim with cas.fulleditmode
This is the “change age” cheat most guides mean. It works in both directions, and it works even with auto aging off.
- Load the household in Live mode.
- Open the cheat console: Ctrl + Shift + C on PC and Mac, or hold all four shoulder buttons on PlayStation or Xbox (Ctrl + Shift + C if you use a mouse and keyboard on console).
- Type
testingcheats trueand press Enter. - Type
cas.fulleditmodeand press Enter. PC Gamer notes the console gives no confirmation for this one. That’s normal. - Shift-click the Sim and choose Modify in CAS. On console, EA’s Shift-click is hold Circle and press X on PlayStation or hold B and press A on Xbox.
- In CAS, open the identity panel in the top-left corner (PC Gamer calls it the plumbob identity menu) and pick the new life stage. Then confirm with the tick to save.
GGRecon points out that this works for every life stage except newborns. For a toddler, child or teen moving up a stage this way, PC Gamer says you choose their new traits in the same screen. Game Rant notes that the same cheat works again whenever you want to change a Sim’s age later.
How to age up a Sim without cheats
If you’d rather not use cheats at all (for example, to keep achievements on console), the base game has three ways to move a Sim on to the next stage:

Sims Community notes that the Simology panel tells you when a birthday is due: hover over the Sim’s name to see how many days are left in the current stage. GGRecon adds that you can’t add candles to a cake once a slice has been taken.

How to age down or stay young without cheats
The base game has no way to move a Sim back a full life stage. As Game Rant puts it, aging down takes the CAS cheat. What you can do is reset the clock on the current stage:
- Potion of Youth: 1,500 satisfaction points in the Rewards Store. It sends the Sim back to the start of their current life stage (Sims Community, Sims Wiki). With cheats on,
sims.give_satisfaction_points 1500covers the cost. - Pregnancy: pregnant Sims stop aging until the baby arrives (Sims Wiki, TheGamer).
- Pack items: Sims Community lists the Get to Work scientist’s Age-Away Serum (career level 10). It also lists the cowplant’s essence of life, which has the same effect as the potion.
It also works the other way. TheGamer and Sims Community both say that stressed Sims age faster.
Sims 4 lifespan settings: how many days each stage lasts
The Sim Lifespan setting sits on the same Gameplay tab and offers Short, Normal and Long. Sims Community and the Sims Wiki give the same day counts. They reflect the lifespan changes from the infant update:

The figures are Sim days. Elders can live a little past the end of the elder stage: the Sims Wiki says death can take up to 48 hours after the age bar fills, longer with the Active or Long Lived traits.
Sims 4 aging cheats on PS4, PS5 and Xbox
EA’s console instructions cover PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The console edition plays on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S too. The steps:

Achievements and Trophies: EA says that on console, every cheat that needs testingcheats true turns off Achievements and Trophies in your current save, but not in your other saves. The CAS age change goes through testingcheats, so it counts. The Auto Age and lifespan options are normal settings, and EA’s rule is only about cheats. To keep a trophy save clean, use those settings plus cakes and the Potion of Youth. Do any CAS age edits in a separate save.
