Written by Nadia

Sony’s transparent Prism DualSense ($84.99) and PS5 covers ($74.99) come in Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. Pre-orders open Nov 10.

Sony’s new PS5 Prism Collection puts transparent shells on the DualSense wireless controller and the PS5 console covers. It comes in three colours: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. Pre-orders open on November 10, 2026 at 10am local time, and the collection launches starting February 4, 2027. Sony announced it on the PlayStation Blog on October 28. The controllers cost $84.99 and the covers $74.99.

The release date is the key detail for holiday shoppers. Pre-orders open about two weeks before Black Friday, but the hardware itself arrives more than two months after Christmas.

Where to pre-order the Prism DualSense and console covers

The controllers will be sold worldwide, through PlayStation’s own store where it operates and through participating retailers.

The console covers are harder to get. Sony says they will be sold “exclusively directly from PlayStation where available”. In other regions, select retailers will have them in limited quantities. Ordering directly from PlayStation is available in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

  • U.S.: direct.playstation.com, from 7am PT / 10am ET on November 10
  • U.K. and the nine European countries above: playstation.com/store/hardware, from 10am local time on November 10
  • Everywhere else: participating retailers. Sony has not named them

Which PS5 models do the Prism covers fit?

Sony’s announcement doesn’t list compatible models. The consoles in Sony’s Prism images are the current, slimmer PS5 design. Push Square reports that the covers are for the current standard PS5 model and that there appear to be no versions for PS5 Pro or the original launch PS5. Check the product page on November 10 before you pre-order, especially if you own a Pro.

What the transparent design looks like

Sony describes each colour as having a “premium glossy sheen”. It says the high-gloss clear finish runs across the back of the controller, so you can see the technology inside, and a metallic middle cover ties the surfaces together. Satoshi Aoyagi of PlayStation’s Color, Material, and Finish team says the orange “subtly takes on a rosy hue where the transparent material overlaps”. He calls the green “deep hunter green” and the gray “cool-toned storm gray”.

Designer Leo Cardoso said: “We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.” Push Square says the prices are similar to Sony’s earlier alternate-colour accessories.

What it means for buyers

This is a cosmetic refresh. Sony’s post mentions no new controller features, so what you get is a standard DualSense in a new shell. A February launch also means the Prism Collection won’t be part of this year’s holiday sales. If you want a PS5 controller under the tree this year, only the existing DualSense colours can turn up in holiday sales. We track every confirmed sale in our Black Friday 2026 gaming deals hub. If you already have a DualShock 4, here is how to use a PS4 controller on PS5 and which games it works with. Microsoft’s new pad is covered in our Xbox Nano Controller price and specs guide.

What’s next

Pre-orders open on November 10. At that point the PlayStation store pages should confirm the exact country-by-country launch dates and which consoles the covers fit. We’ll update this post if Sony adds models, regions or retailers.
