The Mad Games Tycoon 2 best sliders depend on the genre: every main genre has fixed target values for the eight Design Focus sliders, the three Design Direction sliders and the four Design Priority percentages, and the top eleven shift again when you add a subgenre. The tables below list the values for all 19 base-game genres, plus 12 popular combos, taken from FenomeN’s Steam guide and two fan calculators built on the same data. They apply to the current PC version of the game (BUILD 2025.04.08A, checked October 28, 2026 UTC).

Quick answer
- Design Priority (Gameplay / Graphics / Sound / Control, always 100%) depends only on the main genre. RPG and Adventure are 40/30/15/15, FPS 10/50/20/20, Strategy and Puzzle 50/10/10/30.
- Design Focus (8 sliders, 0-10) and Design Direction (3 sliders, 0-10) change with the main genre + subgenre pair, so re-set them every time you pick a subgenre.
- Story-led genres (Adventure, Interactive Movie, Visual Novel) want Story and Character Design at 9-10. Strategy and Economic Simulation want Game Depth at 10 and Beginner-friendliness at 0.
- Sources agree on almost every value. The one clear conflict is Sports Game’s Easy/Hard slider: 4 in FenomeN’s guide, 0 on the fan wiki.
- Sliders are only part of the review score. Genre and topic fit, target group, experience, engine and bugs all count too.

How the sliders work in Mad Games Tycoon 2
Mad Games Tycoon 2 is the game-studio management sim by developer Eggcode (it posts its patch notes as Eggcode Games). It left Steam Early Access on May 31, 2023 and came to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation on March 26, 2026, according to the Nintendo eShop listing (Switch port by Raylight Games). When you create a game you set three groups of sliders:
- Design Focus: Game Length, Game Depth, Beginner-friendliness, Innovation, Story, Character Design, Level Design and Mission Design, each from 0 to 10.
- Design Direction: three alignment sliders. Fan calculators label them Core to Casual, Nonviolent to Explicit and Easy to Hard (FenomeN calls them Hardcore, Cruelty and Complexity). In the tables, 0 is the Core / Nonviolent / Easy end.
- Design Priority: how your team splits its effort between Gameplay, Graphics, Sound and Control (some tools call the last one Technical). These four always add up to 100%.
The Design Priority split is taken from your main genre, while the other eleven sliders follow the exact main + subgenre pair. A Steam forum player explains the trap well: a Skill Game on its own wants a Game Length of 5, but adding Economic Simulation as a subgenre moves it to 8. If you copy the solo-genre numbers onto a hybrid, your sliders will be off.
Best Design Priority for every genre (Gameplay, Graphics, Sound, Control)
These percentages apply whatever subgenre you pick. The date in brackets is when the genre first becomes available, from FenomeN’s guide, and the target groups are the audiences the genre sells to in the game’s data.
| Genre (available from) | Gameplay | Graphics | Sound | Control | Target groups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adventure (January 1976) | 40% | 30% | 15% | 15% | Adults, Seniors |
| Skill Game (January 1976) | 40% | 10% | 10% | 40% | Children, Teens, Adults, Seniors, All |
| Puzzle Game (January 1976) | 50% | 10% | 10% | 30% | Teens, Adults, Seniors |
| Racing (January 1976) | 10% | 40% | 30% | 20% | Children, Teens, Adults, Seniors, All |
| Role-Playing Game (May 1977) | 40% | 30% | 15% | 15% | Adults, Seniors |
| Strategy (July 1978) | 50% | 10% | 10% | 30% | Adults, Seniors |
| Action (August 1979) | 10% | 40% | 30% | 20% | Teens, Adults |
| Platformer (October 1980) | 25% | 25% | 25% | 25% | Children, Teens |
| Simulation (December 1981) | 10% | 40% | 20% | 30% | Teens, Adults |
| Sports Game (January 1982) | 20% | 30% | 10% | 40% | Children, Teens, Adults |
| Economic Simulation (February 1983) | 50% | 20% | 10% | 20% | Adults, Seniors |
| Fighting Game (April 1984) | 20% | 20% | 10% | 50% | Teens, Adults |
| Survival Game (April 1986) | 30% | 30% | 10% | 30% | Teens, Adults, Seniors |
| Building Game (November 1988) | 30% | 20% | 20% | 30% | Adults, Seniors |
| Interactive Movie (February 1990) | 10% | 50% | 30% | 10% | Teens, Adults, Seniors |
| Real-Time Strategy (June 1991) | 30% | 30% | 10% | 30% | Teens, Adults |
| First-Person Shooter (July 1991) | 10% | 50% | 20% | 20% | Teens, Adults |
| Visual Novel (June 1992) | 40% | 40% | 10% | 10% | Children, Teens, Adults, Seniors, All |
| Third-Person Shooter (August 1996) | 20% | 40% | 20% | 20% | Teens, Adults |
Two patterns stand out. Graphics-heavy genres (FPS, Interactive Movie, Action, Racing, Simulation, TPS) put just 10-20% into Gameplay. Strategy and Puzzle flip that to 50% Gameplay and only 10% Graphics, and Economic Simulation is close behind at 50% Gameplay and 20% Graphics. Fighting Game is the only genre that puts half its effort into Control.

Mad Games Tycoon 2 best sliders for popular combos
Subgenres change the Focus and Direction sliders, sometimes a lot. RPG on its own wants Story at 8 and Game Depth at 5; RPG + Strategy wants Game Depth at 7 and Story down at 5. The Priority column still comes from the main genre. Values are from FenomeN’s Steam guide, checked against the Mad Games Tycoon 2 Calculator.
| Combo (main + sub) | Length / Depth / Beginner / Innovation | Story / Characters / Levels / Missions | Core-Casual / Violence / Difficulty | Priority (main genre) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RPG + Action | 6 / 4 / 2 / 3 | 7 / 7 / 7 / 4 | 3 / 6 / 7 | 40/30/15/15 |
| RPG + Adventure | 7 / 4 / 2 / 1 | 9 / 8 / 5 / 4 | 3 / 5 / 7 | 40/30/15/15 |
| RPG + Strategy | 9 / 7 / 0 / 3 | 5 / 5 / 5 / 6 | 1 / 6 / 7 | 40/30/15/15 |
| Action + FPS | 4 / 1 / 7 / 5 | 4 / 4 / 10 / 5 | 4 / 7 / 8 | 10/40/30/20 |
| FPS + Action | 4 / 1 / 7 / 5 | 4 / 4 / 10 / 5 | 3 / 8 / 7 | 10/50/20/20 |
| Strategy + RTS | 8 / 10 / 0 / 4 | 1 / 1 / 7 / 9 | 1 / 6 / 7 | 50/10/10/30 |
| Economic Sim + Building Game | 10 / 10 / 0 / 9 | 1 / 1 / 4 / 5 | 1 / 3 / 7 | 50/20/10/20 |
| Building Game + Economic Sim | 10 / 10 / 1 / 8 | 1 / 1 / 5 / 4 | 1 / 3 / 6 | 30/20/20/30 |
| Simulation + Racing | 5 / 7 / 3 / 7 | 1 / 2 / 7 / 8 | 3 / 5 / 7 | 10/40/20/30 |
| Sports Game + Simulation | 6 / 5 / 7 / 7 | 1 / 3 / 4 / 7 | 5 / 2 / 5 | 20/30/10/40 |
| Adventure + Visual Novel | 4 / 2 / 5 / 1 | 10 / 9 / 5 / 4 | 5 / 5 / 5 | 40/30/15/15 |
| Survival Game + Action | 8 / 5 / 3 / 8 | 2 / 3 / 8 / 3 | 3 / 7 / 8 | 30/30/10/30 |
Order matters. Action + FPS and FPS + Action share the same Design Focus values here, but their Direction sliders and Priority split differ because the main genre is different. For any other pair, the calculator and TheFlipside’s open-source Genre Guide cover every genre + subgenre pair, including the weaker matches.
Mad Games Tycoon 2 best genre combinations (which subgenres fit)

| Visual Novel | Adventure, Interactive Movie, Puzzle Game, RPG, Skill Game |
| Third-Person Shooter | Action, Adventure, Fighting Game, FPS, Platformer, RPG, Simulation, Skill Game, Sports Game, Survival Game |
Third-Person Shooter is the most flexible main genre with 10 good subgenres, followed by RPG with 9. Building Game, Fighting Game, Racing and Skill Game each have only 3.
Where the numbers come from, and where sources disagree
Eggcode doesn’t publish an official slider table, so every guide relies on community data. We cross-checked four sources:
- FenomeN’s Steam guide (first posted January 26, 2022, last updated February 11, 2025). It lists every genre and combo, plus modded genres such as MOBA and Battle Royale from RealismMod, which we left out.
- The Mad Games Tycoon 2 Calculator (madgamestycoon.com, updated October 2026) and TheFlipside’s Genre Guide (August 2026), which credits FenomeN as its source. Their values match FenomeN’s for all 19 solo genres and for every combo we spot-checked.
- The fan wiki’s Ideal Game Stats page, which players filled in by experimenting (last edited September 20, 2026). It agrees with FenomeN on every solo genre except one value, and marks a few others as unconfirmed.
- An early-access list by GGiDig from January 2021 (reposted on GamePretty). Its Design Priority percentages match today’s for all 17 genres it covers, but it uses an older five-number design format that doesn’t map onto the current eight Focus sliders. Don’t use its other numbers.
| Genre | Slider | FenomeN / calculators | Fan wiki |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sports Game | Easy to Hard | 4 | 0 |
| Building Game | Core to Casual | 2 | “below 3” |
| Real-Time Strategy | Depth, Beginner, Innovation, Characters, Core to Casual | 8, 1, 4, 2, 2 | Same values, marked unconfirmed |
| Interactive Movie | Game Length, Character Design | 3, 10 | Same values, marked unconfirmed |
For Sports Game, start with 4, FenomeN’s value, which both calculators also use. If your reviews keep flagging the difficulty, try the wiki’s 0. The official patch notes thread shows no slider rebalance since FenomeN’s last update: the latest build, 2025.04.08A from April 8, 2025, only fixed a German text bug, lowered the first-launch music volume and stopped anti-cheat software being added to arcade games. One caveat: since BUILD 2023.08.24A you can set genre suitability to random in the startup options, and a save made with random settings may not follow these tables. We haven’t found a separate slider list for the Switch and PlayStation versions.

Why perfect sliders still give you a low review
Experienced players on the Mad Games Tycoon 2 Steam forum say sliders are only one part of a good review. They list the other factors as:
- Matching genre, subgenre and topic. Each starred choice you don’t fully match costs points, and the leeway shrinks on harder difficulties.
- The right target group for the genre (see the first table).
- Experience with that genre, topic, platform and the features you use.
- Enough points in all four stats. Games need a minimum of Gameplay, Graphics, Sound and Control points to reach 90%+, so a bigger team or support rooms (Graphics, Sound, Quality Assurance) matter.
- A current engine and few bugs at release.

FAQ
What are the best sliders for an RPG in Mad Games Tycoon 2?
For a pure RPG: Game Length 8, Depth 5, Beginner-friendliness 0, Innovation 2, Story 8, Character Design 8, Level Design 5, Mission Design 4. Set Direction to 2 / 6 / 7 and Priority to 40% Gameplay, 30% Graphics, 15% Sound, 15% Control. With a subgenre, use the combo table instead.
Do the sliders change when I add a subgenre?
Yes. The eight Design Focus and three Design Direction sliders follow the main + subgenre pair. Only the Design Priority percentages stay tied to the main genre.
Are Mad Games Tycoon 2 sliders the same as Game Dev Tycoon sliders?
No. Game Dev Tycoon uses its own three-stage development sliders. Mad Games Tycoon 2 has 15 settings (8 Focus, 3 Direction and 4 Priority), with different values for every genre.
What does a Core to Casual value of 0 mean?
0 is the left end of the slider (Core gamers, Nonviolent, Easy) and 10 is the right end (Casual, Explicit, Hard). Economic Simulation’s 0 / 2 / 7, for example, means fully core, almost nonviolent and fairly hard.
