Free vs ticket: what you get
All of the following are listed on Niantic’s event page. Unless noted, they run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local on both days.

| Shiny chance | Normal | Increased (Niantic says Shinies are not guaranteed) |

| Special Research | None | Branched Steel or Dragon story, a Gigantamax Duraludon encounter with a Special Background, and a new avatar pose |
Everyone also gets Party Play active for eight hours, a chance of mighty Pokémon on Routes, and boosted odds of event Field Research. Niantic hasn’t listed the Field Research tasks yet, and Leek Duck’s event page (a fan site, checked November 5, 2026) says the same. Leek Duck also shows the ticket at US $11.99, which matches Niantic.
If you went to Sendai or Mexico City, that ticket does not cover the global event. Niantic says in-person attendees get the global Special Research only if they also buy a global ticket.
Featured Pokémon: raids, Max Battles, wild and Eggs

Raids and Max Battles by day
| Battle | Saturday, Nov 14 | Sunday, Nov 15 |
|---|---|---|
| Five-star raids | Zekrom, White Kyurem | Reshiram, Black Kyurem |
| Three-star raids | Machamp wearing a modern jacket | Machamp wearing a modern jacket |
| Max Battles | Dynamax Dialga, Gigantamax Duraludon | Dynamax Palkia, Gigantamax Duraludon |
Dialga and Palkia make their Dynamax debut here, and Gigantamax Duraludon makes its Pokémon GO debut in six-star Max Battles. Black and White Kyurem raids give Fusion Energy for fusing Kyurem, and Kyurem from raids may know Glaciate. For the Dynamax lineup in the weeks around the event, see our weekly Pokémon GO Max Battle schedule.
Mighty Pokémon in the wild
Mighty Pokémon are more likely to have high IVs and to be XL or XXL, but they are harder to catch. Niantic lists a different set each day:
| Saturday | Sunday |
|---|---|
| Alolan Exeggutor, Scizor, Flygon, Walrein, Metagross, Empoleon, Magnezone, Conkeldurr, Haxorus | Azumarill, Kingdra, Aggron, Ferrothorn, Hydreigon, Goodra, Noivern, Tinkaton, Clodsire |
On both days, Incense attracts mighty Alolan Exeggutor, Azumarill, Scizor, Kingdra, Aggron, Flygon, Empoleon, Magnezone, Conkeldurr and Hydreigon for all Trainers. Daily Adventure Incense does not count.
Wild hours, Eggs and Featured Attacks
Wild spawns rotate between two themed hours, with Solid as Steel Hour first and Daring as Dragons Hour second. Steel hours include Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Diglett, Magnemite, Skarmory, Aron, Beldum, Shieldon, Lucario, Galarian Stunfisk, Rookidee and Tinkatink. Dragon hours include Charmander, Dratini, Trapinch, Swablu, Bagon, Gible, Axew, Deino, Goomy, Noibat, Jangmo-o and Frigibax. 10 km Eggs hatch Honedge, Klefki, Drampa and Duraludon.
| Pokémon (caught or evolved during the event) | Featured Attack |
|---|---|
| Machamp wearing a modern jacket | Karate Chop |
| Flygon | Earth Power |
| Metagross | Meteor Mash |
| Magnezone | Magnet Bomb |
| Haxorus | Breaking Swipe |
| Hydreigon | Brutal Swing |
| Tinkaton | Gigaton Hammer |
Steel Scholar or Dragon Defender: which path to pick
Ticket holders choose a Steel or Dragon path in the Special Research, which starts on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. local. The medal from your path gives 1 extra Candy XL (Trainers level 31+) and 1,000 extra Stardust for each mighty Pokémon of that type you catch. The bonuses start when you claim the medal and end on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. local, so the sooner you finish your path, the longer they run.
Our count from Niantic’s mighty lists, using each Pokémon’s standard typing:
- Steel (7): Scizor, Metagross, Empoleon, Magnezone (Saturday); Aggron, Ferrothorn, Tinkaton (Sunday).
- Dragon (7, plus 2 for ticket holders): Alolan Exeggutor, Flygon, Haxorus (Saturday); Kingdra, Hydreigon, Goodra, Noivern (Sunday). The ticket’s mighty Latias and Latios are Dragon types too, so the Dragon bonus should apply to them as well. That is our reading of Niantic’s wording, not something Niantic has said directly.
Walrein, Conkeldurr, Azumarill and Clodsire count for neither path. If you want Metagross or Magnezone with their Featured Attacks, Steel fits Saturday better. If you’re hunting Latias and Latios, Dragon is the natural pick.
New Trainer profile backgrounds

Buddy backgrounds on the Trainer profile: Sendai and Mexico City from Nov 6, the Special Background and older Location Backgrounds from Nov 9. Image: Pokémon GO / Scopely
Starting with this event, your buddy Pokémon’s Location Background or Special Background can appear on your Trainer profile, and friends can see it. According to Niantic’s November 3 post, support rolls out in two steps:
- November 6, 2026, 10:00 a.m. local: the GO Wild Area 2026 Location Backgrounds for Sendai and Mexico City.
- November 9, 2026, 10:00 a.m. local: the GO Wild Area 2026 Special Background and all previously released Location Backgrounds.
Friends only see your background once it is 10 a.m. in their time zone, and Niantic says more Special Backgrounds will be added later. During the global event, catches from raids and Max Battles have a chance of the new GO Wild Area Special Background. That covers Machamp wearing a modern jacket, Dynamax Dialga and Palkia, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem and Gigantamax Duraludon. To show one off, make that Pokémon your buddy.
Other new features and avatar items
- Private Dynamax lobbies: when you join a Dynamax Battle, you can pick Battle (automatic matchmaking) or Private Group (enter a group code).
- Adventure Effects in lobbies: since Into the Wild, you can use Zacian’s Behemoth Blade or Zamazenta’s Behemoth Bash while waiting in a raid or Max Battle lobby.
- Pokémon HOME: Pokémon caught in GO Safari Balls can now be sent to HOME, where the ball shows as a Strange Ball.
- Avatar items: the GO Wild Area 2026 Tee (Purple) is in the free GO Pass: Into the Wild, and Duraludon Pants are in the paid GO Pass Deluxe ($14.99, or $19.99 with 10 ranks). The in-game shop sells the Duraludon Helmet, Gigantamax Duraludon Backpack and Fighting-Type Jacket during the event, and they stay on sale afterwards.

How to prepare for GO Wild Area Global
- Decide on the ticket before Saturday. At $11.99 it’s worth it if you plan to play several hours. You get double Candy, Latias and Latios, the research and twice the free Raid Passes. If you’ll only play an hour, the free bonuses are generous.
- Clear bag and Pokémon storage. Double Candy, Eggs, Snapshot encounters and Safari Ball catches fill space fast.
- Stock Incense. Mighty Pokémon (and Latias/Latios for ticket holders) come from regular Incense, not Daily Adventure Incense. With a ticket, Incense lasts twice as long.
- Collect Max Particles first thing. The cap rises to 1,600 (3,200 with a ticket). Ticket holders must collect all Max Particles in the Nearby menu before the exploration boost applies.
- Use Safari Balls only on event days. They work from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local and disappear from your bag after the event, so don’t save them.
- Plan Remote Raids. Niantic’s Into the Wild post says there is no Remote Raid limit on Nov 14-15.
- Play the GO Pass at the weekend. GO Pass: Into the Wild has a daily GO Points cap on Nov 9-13 and no cap on Nov 14-15. Rewards must be claimed by Tuesday, Nov 17, at 11:59 p.m. local.
- Set your buddy. Pick a Pokémon with a Location or Special Background so it shows on your profile.
- Look for a meetup. Niantic lists community meetups for the global event, including Karlsruhe (Saturday) and Stockholm (Sunday) in its Europe post, and 12 Asia-Pacific venues in its Asia-Pacific post.
Daily Discoveries are paused from November 9 to November 15, according to Niantic. For the rest of the month, see our Pokémon GO November 2026 events roundup and our Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour tracker.
