Loftia hit Early Access Nov 3 on Steam and Epic for PC and Mac: $24.89 until Nov 17 ($29.99 list), Switch in 2027, how multiplayer works and first tips.

The Loftia release date was November 3, 2026: the cozy solarpunk MMO from indie studio Qloud Games launched into Early Access at 1pm EST (18:00 UTC) on Steam and the Epic Games Store, for PC and Mac. It costs $29.99, but a 17% launch discount brings it to $24.89 until November 17, and the developer says a Nintendo Switch version follows in 2027.

This is the starter page: what Loftia is, who it suits, what the Early Access build includes, how multiplayer works, and the things worth knowing in your first evening. Prices and store details were checked on Steam on November 4 at 17:20 UTC.

Loftia at a glance: quick answer

What is Loftia?

Loftia is a life sim set on floating islands in the sky, with the ruins of Old Earth left to explore. You farm, craft, fish, decorate a home on your own sky island, adopt pets (the store page mentions capybaras and turtles), and link your island with other players’ islands to form neighbourhoods. The developer describes it as “a cozy, solarpunk, MMO”, and the solarpunk part is not just a look: tools run on batteries you charge with solar, wind and rain energy, and farming leans on hydroponics, aquaponics and trellises.

The bigger goals are shared. World Projects ask the whole server to contribute materials to community builds, and finishing them unlocks resources, story and new islands. Adventures send groups out on Ryder’s airship to puzzle gauntlets on distant research islands. Qloud Games has been building it since 2022, and the game was well funded and well watched before launch: PC Gamer reported a crowdfunding total of over $1.2 million in 2024, it won Most Anticipated Game at the Cozy Game Awards in June 2026, and the developer says close to 150,000 people played its demo during October’s Steam Next Fest.

Loftia release date and launch time

Qloud Games announced the date on September 20 and confirmed the time in its post-demo update: November 3 at 1pm EST. The “Loftia has launched into Early Access” post went up on Steam at 18:04 UTC that day.

Region Loftia Early Access unlock (Nov 3, 2026)
US West (PST) 10:00 am
US East (EST) 1:00 pm
UK (GMT) 6:00 pm
Central Europe (CET) 7:00 pm

How long will it stay in Early Access? On the Steam page the team says its “target is for Loftia to be in Early Access for approximately 1 year”, with the 1.0 date depending on community feedback.

Loftia price: launch discount vs list price

The list price is $29.99. The launch discount takes 17% off for two weeks, which puts it at $24.89, and Steam’s offer banner gives the end date as November 17. Regional pricing applies outside the US.

Steam purchase option List price Price now (checked Nov 4) What you get
Loftia (standard) $29.99 $24.89 (-17%) The full game
Supporter Pack (DLC) $19.99 $19.99 Greeny the robot pet, Nature Sprite outfit, Leaf Chair (cosmetics only; game not included)
Original Soundtrack $4.99 $4.99 Music by Tomás Palazzi
Growing Together Bundle $54.97 $49.87 Game + Supporter Pack + soundtrack

25% of the Supporter Pack price goes to the tree-planting charity One Tree Planted, according to its store page, and the bundle supports the same cause. Beyond that, the official FAQ spells out the money side:

  • No subscription and no paid expansions planned; new content is free for owners.
  • An optional cosmetics shop, the Backer Boutique, sells items for about $2-4 each and full outfits for up to $8. The developer says there is no gacha and that 93% of cosmetics at launch are earned through play.
  • A Community Pass unlocks extra cosmetic rewards from World Projects, and those rewards don’t expire.
  • The price may go up: the Steam page says the team “may consider increasing the price as we get closer to our 1.0 Release”.

Is Loftia on Switch, PS5, Xbox or mobile?

Right now Loftia is a computer game. The developer’s own answer: “Loftia can be played via Steam and the Epic Games Store, on both Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch will come in 2027.” It also confirms full controller support and Steam Deck support.

  • Nintendo Switch: coming in 2027, with no exact date yet. The FAQ says “Nintendo Switch” and doesn’t specify Switch or Switch 2. Because the game is online-only, you’ll need Nintendo Switch Online to play it there.
  • PS5 and Xbox: not announced. The team only says it will “aim to officially support additional platforms” later.
  • iPhone, iPad and Android: no mobile version has been announced.
  • Cross-play: not promised. The FAQ says the team is researching it, and that you’ll have to buy the game separately on each platform.

Is Loftia multiplayer? Can you play it solo?

Both, with one catch: you always need an internet connection. According to the FAQ:

  • It’s a true MMO with servers. Only players on the same server can play together, but you aren’t locked to one, so you can hop over to join friends.
  • There’s no cap on how many friends you can play with, and islands link up into shared neighbourhoods.
  • Solo play is fully supported: “Playing alone will not block your progress”, and you’ll see almost all of the content.
  • No offline mode, on any platform.
  • No romance with NPCs or other players for now. NPC Friendships are planned instead.
  • Character creation isn’t gender-locked, and in Early Access you can make more than one character per account.

If you liked the shared-world approach of Heartopia, Loftia works in a similar way, but it’s buy-once rather than free-to-play. For couch or small-group co-op with offline play, our list of the best cozy co-op games is a better place to look.

What’s in Loftia Early Access?

Per the Steam page, the Early Access build covers the whole main storyline: 4 chapters across 3 regions, plus side quests, World Projects, Adventures and endgame systems. Here’s what the developer lists, compared with the Next Fest demo, which ended before the second district:

Feature In the demo In Early Access
Regions Loftia City Loftia City, Hanging Gardens (forest, fishing spots, community farms), Gridfall (salvage district with air rails and tunnels)
Story Opening Loftia City questline Full main story (4 chapters) plus the earthquake mystery and Old Earth lore
Proficiencies Capped at level 5 Higher levels in Farming, Crafting, Cooking, Fishing and more, with Perks to choose
Farming Basic crops Hydroponics Stations, trellises, Community Farms with leaderboards
Energy Solar Wind, hydro, biofuel and kinetic sources added
New activities Adventures, World Projects, minigames Pets, fishing with the Collector Rod, Research Stations, Urbex artifact hunting, more Adventures
Traversal Not listed Glider Propeller, Bounce Shoes, rail boots
World Projects Pebble’s Birthday Party Bigger builds, including rebuilding the Loftia City Dome

Still to come during Early Access, according to the launch post: new NPCs, questlines and islands, more outfits and decorations, the Study Cafe, Clubs and NPC Friendships, alongside bug fixes and performance work.

Is Loftia worth it?

Early reaction is warm. The game sits at “Very Positive” on Steam (85% of 314 reviews), and it was No. 4 on Steam’s US top-sellers chart when we checked on November 4 at 16:33 UTC. Not every preview loved it, though. CGMagazine’s Early Access preview said it had “good ideas, but a failure to truly grab”, the same verdict that writer gave other recent MMO life sims. Since this is Early Access, the content and balance will keep changing.

Worth your time if: you want a cozy game to play with friends in the evenings, you enjoy contributing to server-wide goals, you like decorating and dressing up characters (the cosmetics are the long-term chase), and you’re happy to grow with a game for a year of updates. The $24.89 launch price runs until November 17, and the developer has said the price may rise before 1.0.

Maybe wait if: you want to play offline, you’re mainly a Switch or console player, you want romance options, or you’d rather buy a finished game. If you’re unsure, Steam’s standard refund policy (within two weeks of purchase and under two hours played) gives you a short window to test it.

Loftia system requirements

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 11 64-bit
CPU Intel Core i3-10100F / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 Intel Core i5-12600K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600
RAM 8 GB 16 GB
GPU GTX 1050 / Radeon RX 560 GTX 1660 / Radeon RX 5600 XT
Storage 10 GB 10 GB

A broadband connection is required. The FAQ says performance optimisation is ongoing so the game runs better on older machines over time. Mac is supported on Steam too.

Loftia beginner tips: how to start

These are our suggestions, based on what the developer has published in its FAQ, demo patch notes and Early Access posts. They’re not hands-on advice.

  1. Link your Loftia account early. Pre-registration and demo rewards are tied to an account on loftia.gg that you link in-game. The Next Fest post says the Demo Banner had to be claimed on the website to carry over, so if a reward is missing, check that link first.
  2. Played the demo? Your save carries over. The developer says demo progress and your character name move into Early Access. Names reserved in the demo are released if you don’t log in between November 3, 2026 and February 3, 2027.
  3. Can’t find your seeds? Open the Tool Wheel. The first demo patch moved the Tool Wheel tip to the planting step because players couldn’t find their carrot seeds. Your seeds are reached through that wheel.
  4. Watch your battery, and don’t write off solar. Your batteries are charged by renewable energy you generate. After a demo patch, solar panels make more energy in rain and at night, so they’re a steady base before you add the wind, hydro, biofuel and kinetic options that Early Access brings.
  5. Do Ryder’s first Adventure quest soon. According to the patch notes, Bloom and Scrambled Coordinates only drop from the Daily Goodies Chest after Ryder’s intro Adventure quest, so finishing it early makes your daily chest more useful.
  6. Pick one or two proficiencies to level first. Levels now go past the demo’s cap of 5, and levelling earns points to invest in Perks. Pick the activities you actually enjoy, like farming or fishing, rather than spreading your points thin (our suggestion).
  7. Chip in to World Projects. Shared builds are how new islands and story open up, and there’s a shortcut to pin contribution bins so you can keep track of them. Community Pass rewards don’t expire, so you can decide later whether to buy it.
  8. Join your friends’ server. You only see players on the same server, but you can switch whenever you like. Agree on a server before a group session.

Recipes and resource routes will shift with Early Access patches, so check the Steam page’s news feed before a long grind.
