Is there a GOG free game right now?
No. GOG puts each giveaway in a box on its homepage, and that box is gone. We checked GOG’s own homepage data on November 2 at 16:30 UTC. It lists the anniversary sale banner, product rows and news, but no giveaway section. GOG’s catalog search for games at $0 that are on discount also returned nothing. That means no paid game is being given away today.
GOG giveaways tend to appear on the homepage without much warning, and recent ones lasted about three days. So check back during GOG’s big sales. In recent years many giveaways started during one.
The last GOG giveaway: A New Beginning: Final Cut
A New Beginning: Final Cut is Daedalic’s 2012 point-and-click adventure for Windows and macOS. A retired scientist in Norway is visited by a time traveller trying to stop a climate catastrophe. PC Gamer reported it free on October 30, and GOG’s giveaway data ended it on November 2 at 14:00 UTC.
| Time zone | Giveaway ended |
|---|---|
| UTC | Mon, Nov 2, 14:00 |
| Eastern (ET, EST) | Mon, Nov 2, 9:00 a.m. |
| Pacific (PT, PST) | Mon, Nov 2, 6:00 a.m. |
If you missed it, it costs $0.99 in GOG’s catalog right now, 90% off its $9.99 price (checked November 2, 16:30 UTC). If you claimed it, it stays in your library for good.

How to claim a GOG free game
- Sign in or make a free account at GOG.com. The claim button only works when you’re signed in.
- Find the giveaway box on the homepage. It usually sits a little way down the page, with a countdown. Some outlets also describe a “Go to giveaway” link on the game’s own store page.
- Click the claim button before the countdown ends. For the October giveaway, LevelUp reported that claiming meant agreeing to receive GOG marketing emails. Read the box’s wording before you click.
- Find it in your library. The game shows up under your games on GOG.com. You can download its offline installer in the browser or install it through GOG Galaxy.
Do you need GOG Galaxy?
No. GOG calls Galaxy an “optional client”. A free GOG account and a browser are enough to claim a game and download it. Galaxy just makes installs and updates easier.
Do GOG free games stay free forever?
Yes. A giveaway game you claim is yours to keep, and GOG games are DRM-free, so you can back up the installer. It’s different from a free weekend, where the game locks again when the event ends.
GOG giveaway history: recent free games with dates
These are the giveaways we could confirm with a date from GOG’s data or from outlet reports at the time. The dates show the pattern: a few days long, often during a sale or a Preservation Program launch.
| Free game | When | Occasion |

| A New Beginning: Final Cut | Oct 30 to Nov 2, 2026 (14:00 UTC) | During the 18th Anniversary Sale |
| Robbo, Adventures of Robbo, Heartlight, Electro Man | Until May 8, 2026 | xLand classics joining GOG |
| Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy | Feb 2 to Feb 5, 2026 (14:00 UTC) | GOG Preservation Program |
| A surprise free game each day | From Dec 12, 2024 | Winter Sale 2024 |
| Return of the Phantom | Oct 31 to Nov 3, 2024 (13:00 UTC) | Halloween Sale 2024 |
| Whispering Willows | From Oct 4, 2024 | Autumn Sale 2024 |

One thing to note: Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy is $1.49 in GOG’s sale right now. A game you miss in a giveaway often comes back cheap in a later sale.
When will GOG give away the next free game?
GOG hasn’t said. The 18th Anniversary Sale runs until Thursday, November 5 at 07:59 UTC (2:59 a.m. ET on Nov 5, 11:59 p.m. PT on Nov 4). GOG’s Black Friday sale hasn’t been announced yet. In 2024, giveaways came with the Halloween, Autumn and Winter sales, so the next big GOG sale is the most likely time for one. That’s a pattern, not a promise. We’ll update this page when a new giveaway appears.
