The best gifts in Fields of Mistria are each villager’s 10 loved items, and every one of the 34 giftable characters has exactly 10 (plus one hated item). Celine loves flowers like Rose and Hydrangea, Hayden loves golden animal products and Pumpkin Pie, and March loves Perfect ores and Mistril Ingots. Below you’ll find every loved gift for all 12 marriage candidates and the other 22 villagers, with birthdays and simple liked gifts, followed by how dating, proposing and marriage work since the 1.0 update.
The gift lists come from the community Fields of Mistria Wiki and its per-character gift pages (wiki.gg), which we checked against the current game version: NPC Studio’s 1.0 patch notes (August 5, 2026) and every patch since, up to v1.0.8 (October 13, 2026). We also compared them with Beebom’s 1.0 gift table (August 20, 2026). Apart from small naming differences and two quest items, their loved lists match for 32 of the 34 characters. The two that differ were changed by a later patch, and they’re flagged below. Checked November 2, 2026, 11:00 UTC.

Quick answer: Fields of Mistria gift guide
- One gift per villager per day. A loved gift is worth +20 friendship, a liked gift +10, a neutral one +3. On a villager’s birthday, every gift gets +20 more, so a loved gift is worth +40.
- Talk to them too. Speaking to a villager once a day adds +7. Friendship points never decay.
- Gifts that please the most people: Sushi Platter, Golden Cookies and Spell Fruit Parfait are each loved by six characters. Perfect Diamond, Perfect Pink Diamond and Mont Blanc are each loved by five.
- A cheap crowd-pleaser: Hard Wood is loved by Ryis, Landen, Holt and Dozy.
- Avoid junk, bugs and “weird gifts”. Almost everyone dislikes them, with a few exceptions such as Luc, Dozy, Dell and Maple. Disliked and hated gifts never lower friendship, but they earn nothing except on birthdays.
- Romance: 12 marriage candidates, none locked by gender. You can start dating at 8 hearts and propose at 10 hearts with an Engagement Ring.
- Platforms: Fields of Mistria is on PC (Steam, $13.99, Steam Deck compatible). It isn’t on Nintendo Switch or other consoles. NPC Studio says it is “currently evaluating additional platform support”.

How gifting works in Fields of Mistria
To give a gift, hold the item next to the villager. If it can be gifted, the prompt appears. Most things can be gifted, including equipment (except special armor), artifacts, bugs, cooked dishes, crops, fish, forageables and materials. According to the wiki’s Friendship page, each villager has a list of loved, liked and disliked items plus one hated item. Anything not on those lists counts as neutral.
| Gift reaction | Normal day | Their birthday |
|---|---|---|
| Loved | +20 | +40 |
| Liked | +10 | +30 |
| Neutral | +3 | +23 |
| Disliked | 0 | +20 |
| Hated | 0 | +20 |
- Heart levels: the wiki lists these thresholds: 80 points for 1 heart, 390 for 4 hearts, 1,125 for 8 hearts and 1,755 for 10 hearts. The 1.0 update raised the cap to 10.
- Loved by everyone: no regular item is universally loved. Items with the Lovable or Likeable infusion work on everyone, and the Lovable Cooking and Likeable Cooking perks give your dishes a chance to get those infusions.
- Banned gifts: you can’t give alcohol, caffeine or bombs to the children Dell, Luc and Maple. Dozy and Henrietta can’t receive any of those, or chocolate either. Infusions don’t get around these rules.
- Bug exceptions: Luc loves several beetles and the Bumblebee, Dell loves the Hermit Crab, Maple loves the Monarch Butterfly and Dozy loves the Crystalline Cricket. Everyone else dislikes bugs.

Recent changes: what older Fields of Mistria gift guides get wrong
- Zorel: patch v1.0.5 (September 18, 2026) “updated Zorel’s gift preferences to reflect the intended selections”. Guides written before that, including Beebom’s, list Middlemist, Sunflower, Heather and Morel Mushroom as his loves. The wiki now lists mushroom dishes and crystal items instead (table above), and Morel Mushroom has moved to his liked list.
- Stillwell: early 1.0 guides list only four loved gifts. The wiki now lists all 10. They include Ancient Crystal Goblet, Crystal Apple, Crystal Berry Pie, Fire Crystal and Spell Fruit Parfait.
- Pages the wiki marks as older: Eiland’s and Juniper’s gift pages carry the wiki’s “last updated for v0.15” marker, and Taliferro’s says v0.14.0. Their loved lists still match Beebom’s 1.0 table, but treat them with a little caution until an editor re-checks them.
- Heart cap: guides written during Early Access give a lower cap (some say 4 hearts). Since 1.0 it’s 10, with marriage at the top.
How to date, propose and get married
- Raise hearts. Give a loved or liked gift every day and talk to them. Marriage candidates have heart events at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 hearts.
- Choose dating at the 8-heart event. In that event you pick “Dating” or “Best Friends”. The wiki says you can’t switch from the platonic route to romance later. You can date several candidates at once.
- Go on dates. Dates happen on weekends, and patch 1.0 made them raise hearts faster. Since v1.0.7 you can find Date Inspiration items (which unlock new date types) as soon as you’re dating someone.
- Craft the Engagement Ring. The morning after you reach 10 hearts with someone you’re dating, Elsie delivers the recipe. According to the wiki, the ring takes 2 Diamonds, 4 Mistril Ingots, 4 Gold Ingots and a Dragon-Forged Core, so you’ll need to be well into the Mines storyline.
- Propose, or collect first. Each candidate’s 10-heart event gives you a unique special item. You can replay these events with the ring until you confirm a proposal, so you can collect every item before choosing.
- Plan the wedding. The wiki says the earliest wedding date is 5 days after the proposal. In the days before, you can choose the flower color, cake flavor and reception meal with your fiancé(e).

When you get engaged, everyone else you were dating switches to Best Friends and sends a break-up letter. Patch 1.0 added settings to turn off the letters or the switch itself. You must change the setting before you confirm the engagement. Some weeks after the wedding, a cutscene gives you the Mystical Feather, which starts an optional conversation about having a child. As of 1.0 there’s no divorce, so choose carefully.
