Survival horror Sorry We’re Closed ($24.99) is free on the Epic Games Store from Oct 29, 15:00 UTC to Nov 5. Times, reviews, platforms and how to claim it.

Epic’s next free game is Sorry We’re Closed, a neon-soaked survival horror game from à la mode games and Akupara Games. It will be free to claim on the Epic Games Store from October 29 at 15:00 UTC to November 5 at 16:00 UTC, according to Epic’s own store promotion data (checked October 24, 09:15 UTC). It normally costs $24.99, and right now it’s on sale for $17.49, so if you play on PC, don’t buy it this week.

  • Free next week: Sorry We’re Closed (PC, Epic Games Store), normally $24.99.
  • Claim window: Oct 29, 15:00 UTC to Nov 5, 16:00 UTC.
  • Free right now: Sker Ritual and Home, until Oct 29, 15:00 UTC.
  • Worth your time if: you like fixed-camera horror in the style of early Resident Evil and Silent Hill, with a lot of personality.

Epic free games next week: what time Sorry We’re Closed unlocks

Epic swaps its weekly freebies on Thursdays. The clocks change during this window (UK on October 25, US on November 1), so the end time shifts in UTC even though both start and end land at 11 am Eastern.

Moment UTC US Eastern US Pacific UK
Sker Ritual + Home leave Oct 29, 15:00 11:00 am EDT 8:00 am PDT 3:00 pm GMT
Sorry We’re Closed free Oct 29, 15:00 11:00 am EDT 8:00 am PDT 3:00 pm GMT
Sorry We’re Closed ends Nov 5, 16:00 11:00 am EST 8:00 am PST 4:00 pm GMT

Claim it once during that window and it stays in your Epic library for good. If you grabbed it during Epic’s 24-hour holiday giveaway on December 21, 2025 (Steam Deck HQ covered it), you already own it.

What is Sorry We’re Closed?

You play as Michelle, who lives in a London borough and has been cursed by an archdemon “looking for love”. To break the curse she uses her Third Eye, a power that lets her see the demon world and the human one at the same moment. It reveals hidden identities, solves puzzles and exposes enemy weak points. Exploration uses classic fixed camera angles. Combat switches to arcade-style first-person shooting, where you aim for weak spots.

The Steam page lists optional tank controls, multiple endings shaped by your dialogue choices, New Game+, a Time Attack mode and a long list of accessibility options. Those include aim assist, infinite healing and no-hold button toggles. The minimum PC specs are modest (Intel i3, 4 GB RAM, integrated graphics, 2 GB of storage), so it should run on most laptops.

Is Sorry We’re Closed good?

Players and critics like it a lot. Steam rates it Overwhelmingly Positive (98% of 1,676 reviews), and it has a Metacritic score of 83 on PC (both checked October 24). The developer’s content note warns of strong violence, blood and gore in some cutscenes, plus strong language throughout, so it isn’t one for younger players.

Who it’s for (and who should skip it)

It’s worth your time if you like survival horror with puzzles, inventory management and a bold art style, or want something spooky for Halloween week. The conversations with a cast of odd neighbours give it more heart than most horror games. Skip it if fixed cameras frustrate you. Modern controls help, but the camera angles are part of the design.

Is it on PS5, Xbox or Switch?

Yes, but the free copy is for PC only. The game launched on PC on November 14, 2024 and came to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch on March 6, 2025 (TheXboxHub, Nintendo Life). The Epic giveaway doesn’t unlock the console versions.

Other Epic deals that end before it’s free

Epic’s current sale runs until November 2 at 16:00 UTC. Three discounts in it stand out (prices checked October 24):

Game Sale price Normal price Ends
Castlevania Anniversary Collection $7.99 $19.99 Nov 2, 16:00 UTC
Eternal Threads $3.99 $19.99 Nov 2, 16:00 UTC

Sorry We’re Closed (don’t buy: free Oct 29) $17.49 $24.99 Nov 2, 16:00 UTC

Steam has Sorry We’re Closed at the same $17.49 until November 2 at 17:00 UTC. That only makes sense if you want it in your Steam library specifically. For more horror deals, Steam Scream Fest 2026 starts on October 26.
