FromSoftware took Dark Souls 2 and 3 servers offline on Oct 30 over a server issue. Still down Nov 1 with no ETA; offline play works, co-op and invasions don’t.

Status, November 1, 2026, 09:18 UTC: Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls 2 servers are still down on all platforms. FromSoftware took them offline on October 30 over what it calls a “server issue”, and it has not given a return date. Its support account on X has posted nothing new since the first notice, so the outage has now lasted more than 50 hours.

This page tracks Dark Souls 3 servers status (and Dark Souls 2 with it) from FromSoftware’s own posts. We’ll update the status line above when the studio posts again.

  • Dark Souls 3 servers: offline on all platforms since October 30, 2026 (checked November 1, 09:18 UTC).
  • Dark Souls 2 servers: offline on all platforms, same notice.
  • Return date: none. FromSoftware says it will post an update once it knows when the servers will be restored.
  • Cause: FromSoftware says only “a server issue”. It has given no other reason.
  • Not on the list: Dark Souls Remastered and Elden Ring were not named in the notice.

What did FromSoftware say about the Dark Souls servers?

The first notice went up in Japanese on FromSoftware’s support account, @fromsoftware_sp, on October 30 at 07:01 UTC (16:01 in Japan, 3:01 AM EDT). It said the studio had found a problem with the game servers for Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III and was stopping them on every platform. It would announce the recovery time separately.

The English version followed at 08:45 UTC, and Bandai Namco’s official Dark Souls account shared it:

“Due to a server issue, the game servers for the following titles will be temporarily unavailable on all platforms. We will provide updates once we have information regarding the server restoration time.”

When we checked FromSoftware’s and Bandai Namco’s accounts on November 1 at 09:18 UTC, the October 30 notice was still the latest post on both. The Dark Souls series news page had no notice about the outage either.

Which games and platforms are affected?

Game Platforms with servers (per FromSoftware) Status (Nov 1, 09:18 UTC)
Dark Souls III PS4, Xbox One, PC (Steam) Offline, no return date
Dark Souls II (incl. Scholar of the First Sin) PS4, Xbox One, PC (DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 versions) Offline, no return date
Dark Souls Remastered Not named in the notice No outage notice posted
Elden Ring Not named in the notice No outage notice posted

The platform lists come from FromSoftware’s October 2026 maintenance notices for each game. “All platforms” covers every version above, so this isn’t a PC-only problem.

Can you still play Dark Souls 3 offline?

Yes. The outage notice talks only about the game servers. FromSoftware’s maintenance notices for these same servers say that while they’re unavailable, “offline mode will still be playable”. Your single-player campaign and saves stay on your console or PC, so you can keep playing.

What you lose is everything online. Eurogamer and PC Gamer both point out that this means invasions, co-op summoning and the messages players leave for each other. In other words, you can’t summon help for a boss, invade or be invaded, or read other players’ messages until the servers return.

On PC there’s an unofficial workaround. PC Gamer notes that the fan-made Seamless Co-op mods for Dark Souls 2 and 3 use their own servers, not FromSoftware’s, so co-op through the mod still works. It’s a community mod, not something FromSoftware or Bandai Namco supports.

Recent Dark Souls server maintenance

Both games had scheduled maintenance in the two weeks before the outage, and both came back on time. FromSoftware has not connected the October 30 outage to either one.

Date Game What happened (UTC)
October 21, 2026 Dark Souls III Scheduled maintenance 05:00 to 07:00; back online at 07:00
October 28, 2026 Dark Souls II Scheduled maintenance 05:00 to 07:00; back online at 07:00
October 30, 2026 Dark Souls II and III Servers stopped on all platforms (notice at 07:01); no return date

Are the Dark Souls 3 servers shut down for good?

No. FromSoftware describes the servers as “temporarily unavailable” and promises an update on restoration. Nothing in either post suggests a permanent shutdown.

How to check Dark Souls 3 servers status

  1. @fromsoftware_sp on X is where FromSoftware posts maintenance start and end times for both games, in Japanese and then English.
  2. @DarkSoulsGame on X, Bandai Namco’s account, shares the same notices for Western players.

For how we track outages for live games, see our Fortnite server status page and the MW4 server status and error codes guide. We first logged the Dark Souls outage in our October 30 gaming news archive.

What’s next

FromSoftware says the next step is a notice with the restoration time, and we’ll add it to the top of this page when it’s posted. In the meantime, the studio is also dealing with The Duskbloods’ delay to 2027. If you’re between runs, our ranking of every Soulsborne DLC covers the Dark Souls 2 and 3 expansions you can still play offline.
