Updated October 23, 2026, 02:30 UTC: first check, before the US unlock at 04:00 UTC.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is live in most of the world, and the MW4 servers are up. Activision’s Online Services status page showed no active alert for Modern Warfare 4 on any platform when we checked at 02:24 UTC on October 23. Infinity Ward’s latest note on @CODUpdates (01:39 UTC) is about a single bug: some players get kicked while spectating in Multiplayer.
The full game has been unlocking at midnight local time since 11:00 UTC on October 22, starting in New Zealand. The US and Canada unlock at 04:00 UTC (midnight ET, 9 PM PT), and Steam lists 05:00 UTC. Our MW4 release time by region table has every market.

Is MW4 down right now? Server status at launch
| Source | What it says | Checked (UTC) |
|---|---|---|
| Activision Online Services | No active Modern Warfare 4 alerts on any platform | Oct 23, 02:24 and 02:28 |
| @CODUpdates (Infinity Ward) | Investigating Multiplayer kicks while spectating | Oct 23, 02:24 (post from 01:39) |
| MW4 Trello board | Known issues listed; no outage | Oct 23, 02:25 |
If the status page turns red or shows an alert for your platform, the problem is on Activision’s side. Its MW4 connection guide says you may have trouble connecting until service is restored, so waiting is the fix. Check the Xbox, PSN and Nintendo status pages too.
Known MW4 launch issues Activision is tracking
Activision’s Known Issues page (updated October 22) and the Trello board list these:
- Can’t save Loadouts in Multiplayer (all platforms): under investigation.
- Stats missing from the Combat Record and Leaderboards: Activision says this is a display issue only and stats are still tracked.
- No button to launch Campaign or DMZ on Xbox on PC: Activision says to install “Content Pack 1” first and check that your Microsoft account hasn’t reached its 10-device limit. The same device limit can lock some Xbox Series X|S players out of the game.
- “Update Requires Restart” prompts caused by connection timeouts: fix planned for an upcoming patch.
- Military camos and Apex attachments relocking after you prestige a weapon: under investigation (see our MW4 Prestige guide).
- DLSS is unavailable while ray tracing is on on PC. Infinity Ward suggests SMAA Nx with Variable Rate Shading until a fix arrives.
MW4 error codes and fixes (from Activision support)
PC: “system does not meet the security requirements” (TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot)
This is the big one for PC. Activision’s TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot article says both are required for MW4, and PCs that fail the check are “restricted from playing any online game mode.” Activision’s fix steps:
- Run Windows 11, or Windows 10 version 22H2 or later.
- Turn on TPM 2.0 in the BIOS: Intel PTT (8th Gen or newer), AMD fTPM (Ryzen 2000 series or newer), or a discrete TPM chip.
- Set the BIOS boot mode to UEFI (not Legacy), use a GPT disk (not MBR), then enable Secure Boot.
- Run the Call of Duty Secure Attestation Wizard (version 1.3.0, updated October 21). It names the failing item, such as “TPM 2.0: Not Enabled”, “Boot Partition not set to GPT” or “BIOS Firmware Update Required”.
- If TPM is on and the prompt persists, update your motherboard BIOS.
Our MW4 early access and preload guide covers the rest of the PC setup.

PS5: CE-34878-0
Activision’s MW4 crash article lists CE-34878-0 and “An error has occurred with an application or system software” as PS5 crash messages. Restart the game first. If it keeps happening, update the PS5 system software, keep the console somewhere cool and well ventilated, and delete old files to free up space.
Can’t connect, but servers are green
Activision’s steps: use wired Ethernet, check you’re signed in to Xbox, PSN, Nintendo, Steam or Battle.net, and run your console’s network test. Restart your router and pause other downloads or streams. Then try UPnP, or port forwarding with a static IP if UPnP doesn’t help.
What about HUENEME-NEGEV, DIVER and other named codes?
Some guide sites list names like HUENEME-NEGEV for MW4, but those codes come from earlier Call of Duty games. When we checked at 02:25 UTC, none of them appeared on Activision’s MW4 support pages or the Trello board. If you see a code Activision hasn’t documented, the connection steps above are the official route, and you can report it through Activision’s MW4 bug report form.
What’s next
The busiest window starts with the US unlock at 04:00 UTC and Steam at 05:00 UTC. We’ll update this post with new status checks and any fixes Infinity Ward announces. Shipment arrives October 27 and Season 1 later, per our MW4 Season 1 roadmap.
