Written by Hana

All 51 Legendary heroes from Gen 1 to Gen 17 ranked with a reason each, plus Bear Trap rally line-ups, Arena rules and early-game picks from the official wiki.

The best Whiteout Survival heroes in 2026 depend on your state’s generation: Jeronimo, Mia, Hector and Bradley stay useful long after their own generation, while Aiden, Bertha and Eleanor are the newest heroes, from Generation 17. Below is our Whiteout Survival tier list for all 51 Legendary heroes, Gen 1 to Gen 17, with the best picks for Bear Trap, Arena and the early game.

Hero names, generations, classes and skills come from Century Games’ official Whiteout Survival wiki (checked November 1, 2026 UTC). The tiers are GamingRoute’s opinion. We give a reason for every hero and checked our placements against five dated community tier lists, named further down.

Quick answer: best Whiteout Survival heroes

  • Newest generation: Gen 17 (Aiden, Bertha, Eleanor), the latest on the official wiki.
  • Best long-term hero: Jeronimo (Gen 1 Infantry), a top rally leader and joiner at every generation.
  • Bear Trap rally leader: Jeronimo + Mia + your best damage Marksman (Bradley from Gen 7, Blanchette from Gen 10, Rufus from Gen 11). F2P accounts can swap Hector in for Jeronimo.
  • Bear Trap joiners: put Jessie, Jasser or Jeronimo in the first slot with that skill at level 5.
  • Arena: only Exploration skills count, so bring heals and crowd control (Philly, Natalia, Molly early; Xura, Bertha or Aisling later).
  • Don’t chase every new hero: build one Infantry, Lancer and Marksman from your state’s newest generation.

How we ranked the heroes

Every hero has Exploration skills (hero-only fights: Exploration and the Arena) and Expedition skills (troop buffs in marches, rallies, Bear Trap and SvS). Our tiers weigh Expedition first and note Arena value where it matters.

  • S: build first at its generation, and it stays useful one or more generations later.
  • A: a strong core pick at its generation.
  • B: situational. Defensive or garrison heroes, or kits that need a particular troop mix.
  • C: early-game or development use only.

The gear bonus column is each hero’s exclusive gear (the “widget”): it boosts either rallies you lead or your city’s defenders, which tells you where the hero belongs.

Why newer generations win: each hero page on the official wiki lists a base Expedition Attack and Defense bonus, and it climbs with almost every generation. Mia (Gen 3) shows 290.23%, Bradley (Gen 7) 650.52%, Blanchette (Gen 10) 1,110.88% and the Gen 17 trio 2,301.84%. An older hero still keeps her place when her skills do something the newer ones don’t, like Jeronimo’s joiner buff.

Best heroes for Bear Trap (Bear Hunt) by generation

In the Bear Hunt event, all three heroes of the rally leader use their Expedition skills. Joiners only add the first Expedition skill of the hero in their first slot. The official wiki’s Bear Hunt page, written by community contributors, suggests these rally leader line-ups (Infantry/Lancer/Marksman troop ratio in brackets):

Gen Best rally leader line-up F2P line-up
1 Jeronimo, Molly, Bahiti (3/3/4) Sergey, Molly, Bahiti
2 Jeronimo, Philly, Alonso (2/3/5) Flint, Molly, Bahiti
3 Natalia, Mia, Alonso (1/2/7) Flint, Mia, Bahiti
4 Jeronimo, Reina, Alonso (1/3/6) Flint, Mia, Lynn
5 Jeronimo, Reina, Gwen (1/3/6) Hector, Mia, Lynn
6 Jeronimo, Reina, Wayne (1/3/6) Hector, Renee, Lynn
7 to 9 Jeronimo, Mia, Bradley (1/1/8) Hector, Mia, Bradley
10 Jeronimo, Mia, Blanchette (1/1/8) Hector, Mia, Blanchette
11 to 12 Jeronimo, Mia, Rufus (1/1/8) Hector, Mia, Blanchette

The wiki table stops at Gen 12. For Gen 13 and later, our read of the skill text is that Vulcanus and then Eleanor are the natural Marksman upgrades, because their kits are pure damage and Defense cuts. That’s our opinion, not something the wiki has tested, so compare your rally report before and after a swap.

Joining rallies: the game takes the four highest-level first-slot skills from all joiners. Jessie (Stand of Arms), Jasser (Tactical Genius) and Jeronimo (Battle Manifesto) each add up to +25% troop damage at skill level 5. The wiki’s Bear Hunt guide for beginners (updated October 27, 2026) also lists Seo-yoon, whose Rallying Beat adds up to +25% troop Attack. Put only one of them in each march you send. A lower-level skill can push out someone else’s level 5 Jessie, so once your joiner heroes are used up, join with a Rare hero in the first slot or with troops only.

Best heroes for Arena

The wiki’s Arena guide gives two key rules: only Exploration skills are active, and each class does 10% extra damage to the class it counters (Infantry beats Lancers, Lancers beat Marksmen, Marksmen beat Infantry).

  • Early (wiki line-ups): F2P Sergey, Jessie, Bahiti, Molly, Gina. Gen 1: Jeronimo, Natalia, Molly, Bahiti, Zinman. Gen 2: Flint, Natalia, Molly, Alonso, Philly.
  • Later, our picks: one healer (Xura, Bertha or Aisling all heal in Exploration) plus stun heroes such as Greg, Hendrik, Flora or Vulcanus. Infantry go in front, and check the opponent’s line-up first.

Best early-game heroes (Gen 1 and free-to-play)

On a new state, in order of value:

  1. Jeronimo: his joiner skill never goes out of date.
  2. Molly and Natalia: carry Exploration and the Arena early.
  3. Jessie or Jasser: first Expedition skill to level 5 for Bear Trap joining.
  4. Sergey and Bahiti: the Epic Infantry and Marksman the wiki uses for F2P rallies.
  5. Zinman, plus the Rare gathering heroes (Smith, Eugene, Charlie, Cloris): level them for construction and gathering, not fights.

You don’t need to spend money to follow this list: concentrate shards and skill books on three heroes instead of spreading them thin. Gift codes help too: our Whiteout Survival gift codes list is kept up to date with redeem steps.

How our tiers compare with other tier lists

None of these community lists is official:

  • HostedGG (updated June 22, 2026; ranks up to Gen 15): SS for Jeronimo, Mia, Magnus, Blanchette, Eleonora, Vulcanus and Estrella; Molly only B.
  • BlueStacks (June 26, 2026; a short list of 12 heroes from Gen 8 to 15): S for Elif, Estrella, Dominic, Vulcanus and Karol, and B for Freya, Lloyd and Gregory.
  • WhiteoutSurvival.app (v1.1, February 24, 2026): S+ for Jeronimo, Mia, Hector and Bradley, our four long-life S picks.
  • Mobi.gg (updated August 14, 2026; ranks Gen 1 to 9 only): S for Jeronimo, Bradley, Magnus, Sonya, Reina, Gwen, Natalia and Molly.
  • Heaven Guardian (September 15, 2026): the only dated list we found covering Gen 16 and 17: Aiden, Bertha and Eleanor in S, Gen 15 and 16 in A.

They mostly agree on the S tier and split on Molly, Freya and Karol. Our Gen 16 and 17 placements rest mostly on the official skill text; we’ll revisit them when Gen 18 arrives. If you’re comparing Whiteout with Century Games’ newer medieval game, our Kingshot beginner guide covers its heroes, and our list of 12 games like Whiteout Survival has more survival strategy picks.

FAQ

Who is the best hero in Whiteout Survival?

There isn’t one for every mode. On a Gen 17 state, Aiden, Bertha and Eleanor have the highest base stats. Jeronimo is the most useful hero overall, because his first Expedition skill boosts rallies at every generation.

What is the newest hero generation in Whiteout Survival?

Gen 17 (Aiden, Bertha, Eleanor) is the newest generation on the official wiki as of November 1, 2026. New generations unlock as your state gets older, so younger states won’t see them for a while.

Which heroes are best for Bear Trap rallies?

To lead a rally, the wiki suggests Jeronimo and Mia plus your best damage Marksman (Bradley, Blanchette, then Rufus), with about 80% Marksmen from Gen 7 on. To join, use Jessie, Jasser or Jeronimo in the first slot with that skill at level 5.
