Every Theme Park Tycoon 2 star rating requirement from 0.5 to 5 stars, the stall counts 4.5 and 5 stars need, and why a park rating gets stuck or drops.

Updated October 28, 2026: rewritten around the current star rating rules from the Theme Park Tycoon 2 Wiki, with a full 5-star checklist, the stall counts the top tiers need, the 2026 stall changes (balloons, new hat stalls, umbrellas) and fixes for a rating that is stuck or dropping. Money, entrance fees and ride prices now live in our Theme Park Tycoon 2 money and prices guide.

To get 5 stars in Theme Park Tycoon 2, your park has to clear every star tier below it and then add three of every food and drink stall, one of every souvenir stall and three large roller coasters, while guests stay happy and can find their way around. Each half star has its own requirements, listed on the Theme Park Tycoon 2 Wiki’s rating page, and the rating can only climb as fast as you meet them.

How to get 5 stars in Theme Park Tycoon 2: quick answer

  • Work up tier by tier. Each half star needs everything from the tiers below it plus a few new items (table below).
  • Stalls decide the top tiers. 4 stars needs 8 food, 8 drink and 8 restroom stalls. 4.5 stars needs 10 of each. 5 stars needs at least 3 of every food stall and every drink stall, plus 1 of every souvenir stall.
  • Three large coasters. Preset designs count, so you don’t have to build custom tracks (wiki).
  • Scenery around every ride. 4.5 stars needs each ride’s appearance stat above 1.5, which takes about ten hedges and bushes within three tiles of the ride.
  • Zero litter and no dead ends. Trash on the ground blocks 4 stars. Guests who get lost head for the exit, and trapped guests can drag a park down to 2 stars.
  • No Robux needed. None of the requirements is a game pass item.

Theme Park Tycoon 2 star rating requirements (every tier)

The game shows your rating on the park entrance archway and on the Park Information board. The wiki says it depends mostly on the quality and number of your rides and on the happiness of every guest. Its tier list (rating page last edited December 14, 2025, checked October 28, 2026) is the clearest guide to what each half star needs. Every tier also needs everything from the tiers above it in the table.

Rating What this tier adds Achievement
0.5 stars 1 ride, 1 food stall, 1 drink stall, 1 restroom Getting started!
1 star 2 rides; trash cans along the paths, no more than 6 tiles apart –
1.5 stars 3 rides, 2 food stalls, 2 drink stalls, 2 restrooms –
2 stars 5 seats or benches, 5 trash cans, 5 restrooms The park is growing!
2.5 stars 5 rides, 3 food stalls, 3 drink stalls –
3 stars 2 roller coasters plus at least one gentle, one intense and one water ride (transport rides count as gentle) Nice theme park!
3.5 stars 1 of every stall, except souvenir stalls, where 2 types are enough –
4 stars 8 food stalls, 8 drink stalls, 8 restrooms; no trash on the ground and no gaps in trash can coverage Amazing theme park!
4.5 stars 10 food stalls, 10 drink stalls, 10 restrooms; every ride’s appearance above 1.5 –
5 stars 3 of every food stall, 3 of every drink stall, 1 of every souvenir stall, 3 large roller coasters, high average happiness, easy-to-navigate paths Incredible theme park!

Stars pay off as well. On the wiki’s entrance fee formula, every half star adds about $5 to the entry price your park can charge. Our Theme Park Tycoon 2 guide to money, entrance fees and prices has the full formula and pricing tips.

5-star checklist

Use this list once your park sits at 4 stars. It covers the 4.5-star and 5-star requirements from the wiki, with the stall counts worked out from the wiki’s stall pages:

  • ☐ At least 10 restrooms.
  • ☐ At least 3 of each food stall. The wiki lists seven food stalls (burger, candy floss, fries, ice cream, pizza, popcorn and refreshing fruits), so that is at least 21 food stalls.
  • ☐ At least 3 of each drink stall. The three drink stalls are hot drinks, slushy and soft drinks. Three of each is only 9, but 4.5 stars already needs 10, so build at least 10, for example 4 of one kind and 3 of the other two.
  • ☐ 1 of every souvenir stall in your build menu (hat stalls, balloons and, since July 2026, umbrellas; see the next section).
  • ☐ 3 large roller coasters. Preset designs are fine.
  • ☐ Every ride’s appearance above 1.5: about ten hedges and bushes within three tiles of each ride, including flat rides.
  • ☐ No trash on the ground, with trash cans no more than 6 tiles apart on every path.
  • ☐ High average happiness in the park guest overview on the Park Information board.
  • ☐ No dead ends, no trapped guests. Paths loop back on themselves, and no one-way sign shuts guests in.

The refreshing fruits stall needs player level 35, according to its wiki page. If your 5-star checklist is complete but you can’t place that stall yet, keep levelling, then add three of them.

Which stalls count for 5 stars in 2026?

The wiki’s 5-star rule says “every” food, drink and souvenir stall, and the stall list has changed several times in the past year. Here is what the stall pages show (checked October 28, 2026):

Stall Type Cost to place (wiki) Unlock (wiki)
Burger Food $480 None
Candy floss Food $350 None
Fries Food $340 None
Ice cream Food $300 None
Pizza Food $330 None
Popcorn Food $400 None
Refreshing fruits Food $320 Level 35
Hot drinks Drink $400 None
Slushy Drink $320 None
Soft drinks Drink $300 None
Restroom Restroom $250 None
Balloons Souvenir $2,500 “The park is growing!” achievement (2 stars)

Souvenirs are where the list is moving. The 2026 changelog says the April 10 update (version 585) added three new hat stalls that can sell several hats and turned the old hat stalls into “legacy” items, hidden from build menus by default (the wiki still has pages for the pirate, Santa, witch and dino hat stalls). The July 7 update (version 589) added umbrella stalls, which sell umbrellas to guests when it rains. The October 2025 update also redesigned restrooms into three new stalls. The wiki’s rating page predates all of this, so it doesn’t say whether legacy or umbrella stalls are required. The safe approach is one of every souvenir stall your build menu shows.

How to get from 4.5 to 5 stars

Most of the “stuck at 4.5 stars” questions come down to a short list of misses:

  1. Count stalls by type, not in total. Ten food stalls of two kinds clear 4.5 stars but not 5. Open each stall category and make sure every food and drink type has three.
  2. Add the missing souvenir stalls. One balloon stall, one of each hat stall and one umbrella stall.
  3. Check you have three large coasters. The wiki asks for “large-scale” roller coasters without giving a size, so if in doubt, add a full-size preset coaster.
  4. Fix appearance on new rides. The rule covers every ride in the park, so any ride you added after reaching 4.5 stars needs its own hedges and bushes too.
  5. Read guest thoughts. Open the guest overview on the Park Information board and look for “I want to leave the park!”, “I’m hungry!”, “I need to go to the restroom!” or “I cannot find a ride I want to ride!”. Each one points to a gap, according to the wiki’s guest thoughts page.
  6. Walk your paths. Remove dead ends and make paths loop back towards the entrance.

How to raise a ride’s appearance above 1.5

The appearance stat is what most players miss at 4.5 stars. The wiki’s advice is about ten hedges and bushes within three tiles of each ride. That counts for every ride in the park, not only coasters. Because the greenery has to be close to the ride, ring each ride, its queue and its exit with bushes rather than decorating one big central area. The 2026 updates added more nature items (six trees and ten bamboo in April, 17 cactus items in July, per the changelog), which helps if you want a themed look instead of plain hedges.

Why did my Theme Park Tycoon 2 rating go down?

Problem What happens Fix
Guests trapped (often behind a one-way sign) Rating drops, down to a minimum of 2 stars (wiki) Check every one-way sign; open a path out
Litter on the ground Blocks 4 stars and above; guests walking past trash get less happy Trash cans no more than 6 tiles apart on every path
Hunger, thirst, tiredness or bladder not met Happiness falls and the guest has a 50% chance of leaving (wiki guest page) Spread food, drinks, seats and restrooms across the park
Dead ends or confusing paths Lost guests switch to “I want to leave the park!” and won’t change their minds Loop paths back on themselves
A new ride with no scenery Fails the appearance rule for 4.5 stars About ten hedges and bushes within 3 tiles
Closed or broken rides “I cannot find a ride I want to ride!” means not enough open rides Reopen rides or add more

Prices can push guests out as well: at a $100 entrance fee nobody gets in, and an overpriced stall or ride gets “too expensive” thoughts. Keep the fee in line with your rating: the wiki’s Park Entrance page puts the maximum at about park value / 50,000 + stars x 10, capped at $100.

What do you get for a 5-star park?

According to the wiki’s list of achievements, each rating milestone pays out XP and credits:

Achievement Rating Reward
Getting started! 0.5 stars 200 credits + XP
The park is growing! 2 stars 200 credits + XP; unlocks the balloon stall
Nice theme park! 3 stars 300 credits + XP
Amazing theme park! 4 stars 500 credits + XP
Incredible theme park! 5 stars 800 credits + XP, the Personal statue and Personal mannequin

Theme Park Tycoon 2 in October 2026: is this still current?

Yes. Developer Den_S announces updates through the game’s official Roblox event listings, and the latest one is the 10th Anniversary Update of August 21, 2026, which added turntables for various roller coasters. Before that came Weather & Tilt Tracks (July 7) and the Spring Update (April 10). The Roblox games API shows the game was last updated on August 31, 2026, with about 4,000 people playing and 1.626 billion visits when we checked at 20:45 UTC on October 28, 2026. No new update listing has been posted since August, so the rating rules above still match the live game, apart from the open souvenir stall question.

FAQ

How do you get 5 stars in Theme Park Tycoon 2?

Clear every tier below it, then build three of every food and drink stall (at least 21 food and 10 drink stalls), at least 10 restrooms, one of every souvenir stall and three large coasters. Keep every ride’s appearance above 1.5, the ground free of trash and the paths free of dead ends.

Why is my park stuck at 4.5 stars?

Usually a stall type is missing (three of each food and drink, one of each souvenir), you have fewer than three large coasters, a new ride lacks scenery, or guests are getting lost. Check the guest overview for “I want to leave the park!” thoughts.

Why did my rating drop to 2 stars?

The wiki says trapped guests pull the rating down to as low as 2 stars. Look for guests shut in by a one-way sign or a path with no way out.

How many food stalls do you need for 5 stars?

Three of each food stall. The wiki lists seven food stalls, so that means at least 21. Refreshing fruits needs player level 35.

Do you need game passes for 5 stars?

No. None of the rating requirements needs a game pass, and the Earnaldo beginner guide (June 2026) also says a 5-star park needs no Robux.

Can your star rating go down in Theme Park Tycoon 2?

Yes. Litter, unhappy or trapped guests and rides that lose their scenery can all drop it. Fix the cause and the rating climbs back.
