Horizon Forbidden West is one of the most anticipated games of the entire year, a high profile release on both the current and last generation of consoles, serving as a sequel to the positively received original game. Guerilla Games’ newest and ambitious project features multiple new mechanics and creatures to encounter, and thanks to ResetEra for spotting that in a recent interview, it was revealed that it had recently finished with the Beta stage of development.
According to Mathijs de Jonge, one of the directors, the game has successfully achieved its beta milestone and is currently nearing completion, with some more details, cinematics and robots still under production after being a little behind schedule. Despite there still being much to do before it officially releases later in the year, it is in the final stages of production.
Horizon Forbidden West features Aloy, a young huntress who left her familiar home on a hunt to stop a rampaging plague killing all traces of life, and with the recently released State of Play, looks to be one of the next greats in gaming. It is set to be released later this year on both the current and last generation of consoles.
There is still no fixed release date for Horizon Forbidden West except the Late 2021 window, but it could be delayed if something happens during development, so hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
