Where to find all 26 Final Fantasy Resonance Visions by chapter, their roles and elements, the best ones to awaken first, and the Tablet Shard rewards.

Final Fantasy Resonance has 26 Visions: 17 heroes and villains from earlier Final Fantasy games and nine characters from its own world. You get 16 of them from Sanctums of Light on the world map, Tronn and Leah from the story in Chapter 1, Sephiroth by beating him at Whirlpool Hollow, and the last seven from side quests in Chapters 5 to 7. None are missable, according to PowerPyx’s collectible guide, so you can finish the set after the credits.

Below: every Vision by earliest chapter, which ones deserve your Magicite, and what the 99 Tablet Shards give you.

  • Total: 26 Visions. Collecting all of them unlocks the Will Crystallized achievement, which only 6.1% of Steam players had (checked October 30, 2026, 13:47 UTC).
  • Before the airship: 14 Visions (Chapters 1 to 4). Airship needed: Clive, Vaan, Bartz, Lightning and Sephiroth (Chapter 5).
  • Side quests: Camille, Wilhelm, Aileen, Victoria (Chapter 5), Amelia (Chapter 6), Charlotte and Ayaka (Chapter 7).
  • Best overall, per two published tier lists: Bartz, Terra, Sephiroth, Shantotto, Y’shtola and Ayaka.
  • Sanctum quiz answers don’t matter: each Sanctum asks three questions about the hero’s story, and PowerPyx reports the answers change nothing.

All 26 Final Fantasy Resonance Visions list by chapter

Roles are as shown in the game’s Equipment & Abilities screen (via AllThingsHow’s Vision list), and elements are from GIGA’s guide. “Breaker” Visions build the stagger gauge, “Commando” Visions deal damage, “Sentinel” means tank, “Medic” heals and “Saboteur” debuffs.

# Vision (game) Role Elements Chapter How to get it

25 Charlotte (Resonance) Sentinel Ice, Water 7 Sub Quest “The Shield of the Weak”, Grandport Harbour
26 Ayaka (Resonance) Medic Healing 7 Sub Quest “The Admirable Apprentice”, Town of Sian, Kingdom of Pharm

Locations are from VGC’s Vision guide and PowerPyx, checked against GIGA. Guides disagree on two items. AllThingsHow lists Amelia’s quest as Chapter 4 while PowerPyx and GIGA say Chapter 6, so look for “Token Legacy” once you’ve finished the main story tasks in the Village of Sunioo. Guides also place Clive’s Sanctum differently in Grandshelt, so scan the high ground from the airship. Mysidia, the Uncharted Land, only opens in Chapter 5.

How Visions work: Mastery Rank, Awakening and Resonance

Each party member equips one Vision in the VISIONS slot of the Equipment & Abilities screen. The Vision gives that character its role, its skills and its Resonance attack. There are three separate things to level, and it helps to keep them apart:

  • Mastery Rank (MR 0-9). Fighting with a Vision equipped earns MRP. Each rank unlocks a Mastery Bonus, either a permanent stat boost or an ability. Abilities do nothing until you place them in one of the eight ABILITIES slots, and each costs AP. The AP pool grows by 8 at MR 4 and MR 9. You can also slot abilities learned from Visions you no longer have equipped: Square Enix’s own Steam screenshot shows a Y’shtola user running Dualcast, with Bartz’s Dual Spellblade and another Vision’s Arms Akimbo in the same list. Expert difficulty awards more MRP.
  • Awakening Level (0-3 stars). Stars unlock more skills and passives. One star costs a Magicite Shard, two stars a Magicite and three stars a Magicite Cryst, and the upgrades are done at the Moogle you meet at Grandport Harbour, per GIGA. Magicite is the scarce part, so this is where the choice of Vision really matters.
  • Resonance. After you stagger an enemy, SELECT RESONANCE lets you fire one equipped Vision’s signature attack. Some are utility moves rather than damage. Shantotto’s Colossal Shantotto II and Firion’s Weaponsmaster both fill the Limit Burst gauge by 20%, Lightning’s Zantetsuken has a 40% Instant Death chance, and Ayaka’s Angelic Embrace cures every status except KO.

Steam’s global achievement stats show how far most players get. 43.9% have taken one Vision to max Mastery Rank and 25.7% have done it with eight, but only 21.5% have fully awakened even one (all figures checked October 30, 2026). That gap is the Magicite bottleneck.

Best Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance: which to use

There’s no official ranking, so this compares the two full tier lists published so far, Power Up Gaming’s (October 24) and GamingProMax’s (October 25), with GIGA’s play-through picks. The top six are identical in both lists.

Tier (where both lists agree) Visions Why
Top picks Bartz, Terra, Sephiroth, Shantotto, Y’shtola, Ayaka Extra actions per turn, broad element coverage, Terra’s damage-cap break, the best healer
Strong Cloud, Squall, Firion, Warrior of Light, Noctis, Tronn Early access plus a standout tool: crits, Double Action, Arms Akimbo, an early tank
Situational Cecil, Onion Knight, Leah, Tidus, Zidane, Wilhelm, Clive Good in one job (tanking, Steal, Haste, Fire) but outclassed later
Lists split Victoria, Camille, Charlotte Victoria is ranked higher for farming; Camille and Charlotte as niche picks
Lowest Lightning, Vaan, Aileen, Amelia Narrow kits; Amelia and Aileen are debuff specialists

The trade-offs that decide it

  • Terra goes on everyone eventually. GIGA and both tier lists report that one of her Mastery Bonuses raises the damage cap from 9,999 to 99,999, and GIGA advises mastering her on every party member. She is also available in Chapter 1, with Fire, Ice and Water from 0 stars and Ultima at 3 stars.
  • Squall for physical, Shantotto for magic. According to GIGA, Squall’s MR 9 bonus Double Action gives two attacks per turn (best on Rain, Lasswell and Jake), and Shantotto has the magic version, casting two spells per turn (best on Fina, Nichol and Sakura).
  • Bartz is the best Breaker because of Dual Spellblade, which uses Spellblade skills twice in one turn. He starts with Stagger Power +30% and Thunder, Aero and Stone Blades. The catch is that he needs the airship.
  • Sephiroth is GIGA’s pick for the strongest physical damage Vision, with Meteor and One-Winged Angel at 3 stars. His fight is tuned for about level 45, and GIGA’s writers only won at level 60.
  • Healers: Leah until Ayaka. Ayaka’s kit (Curaga, Arise, Reraise, Esunaga, Nullify Instant Death) beats Leah’s, but Ayaka only arrives in Chapter 7. Y’shtola works as a backup healer and also strips enemy buffs with her Resonance.
  • Victoria for grinding. GIGA reports that her MR 7 bonus raises MRP earned by 50%, which makes leveling the rest of the roster faster.
  • First Magicite Shard: GamingProMax recommends Cloud’s first awakening (Braver, Stagger Power +20%) as an early buy. Tronn’s 0-star kit already covers three elements for Rain from Chapter 1.

Sanctums, quiz answers and the Sephiroth fight

Sanctum icons appear on your map after the throne-room scene at Grandshelt Castle, when Charlotte marks the three she knows of. Inside each one you touch the Vision Crystal and answer three questions about that hero’s original story. VGC suggests answering the way the character would, but PowerPyx reports the answers don’t affect anything, so you can’t lock yourself out of a Vision.

Whirlpool Hollow looks like a Sanctum, but you have to win a boss fight with Sephiroth before he joins. PowerPyx recommends level 45. If you’re under-leveled, collect Bartz, Lightning and Vaan on Mysidia first, since they need no fight.

Final Fantasy Resonance Tablet Shards: how many and what they give

Tablet Shards are the gold sparkles in towns and dungeons, and there are 99 of them. You turn them in to the enigmatic princess at Oblivion Palace in the Kingdom of Grandshelt. They tie into Visions because the rewards include Magicite: two Magicite Shards (at 9 and 24), a Magicite (40) and a Magicite Cryst (64). That’s four extra awakening steps.

Chapter Shards Notable spots
1 12 Felicitas (2), Kolobos Ruins (2), Grandport Harbour (2), Siren’s Tower (3)
2 15 Dilmagia (4), Mt. Thunderclap (3), Mobliz Shipyard (3), Wind Shrine (3)
3 15 Olderion (4), Cave of Waters (3), Waterfall Way (3), Water Shrine (3)
4 16 Zoldaad, the Imperial Capital (5), Rebel Hideout (2), Weapons Factory (2), Zoldaad Castle (2)
5 17 Mysidia, the Magiapolis (3), Tower of Mysidia (4), Fina’s Psyche (4), Arcane Library (2), Village of Sunioo (2)
6 12 Research Centre Ruins (3), Gronoa Shrine (3), Sanctissimus Shrine (2)
7 8 Town of Sian, Mt. Reizan, Lake Ryusei, Forest Path, Wandering Lands
8 4 Crystal Tower (3), Dragon’s Maw (1)

The counts per chapter follow PowerPyx’s numbered shard list, and Prima Games’ Chapter 1 and 3 checklists give the same 12 and 15. Mt. Thunderclap’s easy and hard paths each hide a shard. If you paid Lid 1,000 gil for the easy path, use the Save Point’s Teleport to go back and walk the hard path as well.

There are 25 rewards in all, from a Vitality Charm at 3 shards to Lightbringer at 99 (AllThingsHow’s reward table). The key ones are 64 (Magicite Cryst), 76 (Ancient Firearm, one of the Twelve Legendary Arms), and 80 and 89 (Adamantite, which Aileen needs to craft weapons for The Weaponsmith achievement). PowerPyx says 89 shards cover every trophy and none are missable. On Steam, 73.2% of players have claimed a first palace reward but only 13.7% have Memento, the princess’s second memory (60 shards, per PowerPyx) (checked October 30, 2026).

FAQ

How many Visions are in Final Fantasy Resonance?

26. That’s 16 series heroes from Sanctums of Light, Sephiroth from Whirlpool Hollow, and nine original characters (Tronn, Leah and seven side-quest Visions). Every numbered game from Final Fantasy I to XVI is represented, and Final Fantasy VII has two (Cloud and Sephiroth).

Can you miss any Visions?

No. PowerPyx reports that every Sanctum, side quest and the Sephiroth fight are still available after the story in free roam.

What is the best Vision for Rain?

Early on it’s Tronn, or Cloud once you have a Magicite Shard. Later, GIGA picks Squall (Double Action) and Sephiroth for Rain’s physical damage, with Terra mastered on him for the 99,999 damage cap.
