Abiotic Factor soup recipes cover 38 soups that you eat, plus 3 pot dishes, 4 crafting “soups” (glue, solder, cheese) and 4 failed soups that make you sick or kill you. Every food soup takes 2 minutes on a powered stove and needs Cooking level 3. 26 of them give the 10-minute Souper Satisfied buff (hunger and thirst drain 20% slower). The other 12 give something else, such as XP boosts, carry weight, damage reduction, heat resistance or a fire burst. Radfish Chowder gives both Souper Satisfied and radiation resistance.
Below is every Abiotic Factor soup recipe with its exact ingredients, buff and buff duration, taken from the official Abiotic Factor wiki (wiki.gg) and checked against Deep Field Games’ patch notes on Steam on November 4, 2026.
Table of Contents
Quick answer: Abiotic Factor soup basics
- Unlock: Cooking skill 3. Fry food to level it, or analyze the pot of solder in front of the Blacksmith, which raises Cooking to 3.
- Kit: a Cooking Pot (or a makeshift one), clean water, an electric stove or powered Portable Stove, and a Soup Bowl to serve it.
- Yield: 4 portions per pot (6 from Cooking 17). A bowl holds 2 portions, so one pot is 8 servings, or 12 at Cooking 17.
- Cook time: 2:00 for every food soup. Soups don’t burn on the stove, and they don’t spoil in the pot or the bowl.
- Best early soups: Simple Tomato Soup (Tomato + Salt), Split Pea Soup (Canned Peas + Salt + Raw Pest) and Sustenance Soup (1 Military M.R.E.).
- Best buff soups (our picks): Hearty Stew (+25% carry weight), A&L Mega-Stew (+10% speed, +2 Strength), Radfish Chowder (half radiation, plus Souper Satisfied).
Which game version this reflects (read this first)
The current build is 1.5.0.31876 on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S / PC app, released November 3, 2026. Two recent patches touched food:
- Community Update #5 (1.5, October 26) made “a wide array of culinary options” more nutritious, especially oven-cooked food, and slightly lowered “several staple foodstuffs”. Its full patch notes don’t name single recipes or give numbers.
- Hotfix 1.5.0.31876 (November 3) scaled those boosts back: many foods are now “a little less filling and much less hydrating”.
Neither patch mentions changed soup ingredients or soup buffs, so the recipes and buffs below are current. The hunger and thirst numbers are not reliable right now. Most of the wiki’s soup pages were last edited before 1.5. Only Homey Pasta and Peccary Noodle Soup (marked *) were updated on 1.5 launch day, and that was before the November 3 cut. Use the numbers to compare soups, not as exact in-game values.

How to make soup in Abiotic Factor
- Get Cooking to 3. Frying food is the usual route. The Somatic Gastrologist job gets +4 Cooking, Phytogenetic Botanist +2 and Epimedical Bionomicist +1. The Hobbyist Chef trait doubles Cooking XP.
- Fill a Cooking Pot with clean water. Hold the empty pot at a Water Cooler or sink, or pour in a Water Bottle. Antejuice works too. Boiling Tainted Water also works, but only a quarter of it comes out clean (1,000 ml becomes 250 ml).
- Put the pot on a powered stove and add the ingredients. When they match a recipe, the soup’s name changes and the recipe goes into the Soup Recipes tab of your Compendium. Otherwise it stays “Unknown Soup”.
- Wait 2 minutes. When the pot gets a lid, “Uncooked” drops from the name. Take it off the stove and place it down.
- Serve with a Soup Bowl. Equip the bowl to take portions. Each bowl holds 2 portions.
Learning recipes by mistake: if a soup has the right number of ingredients but one wrong one, you get Bad Soup, but the real recipe still unlocks in the Compendium. Salt plus one other ingredient, for example, unlocks Bland Pea Soup, Simple Tomato Soup or Super Tomato Soup. If more than one recipe fits, the game unlocks the closest one you don’t have yet.

Abiotic Factor soup buffs and effects explained
| Buff | Effect | Duration | Soups |
|---|---|---|---|
| Souper Satisfied | Hunger and thirst drain 20% slower | 10 min | 26 soups (every row above marked Souper Satisfied) |
| Lightfooted | +10% Sprinting and Sneaking XP | 15 min | Bland Pea Soup |
| Heightened Senses | +10% Blunt Melee and Sharp Melee XP | 15 min | Meaty Stew |
| Quick Reflexes | +10% Accuracy and Reloading XP | 15 min | Sustenance Soup |
| Living Off the Land | +10% Agriculture XP | 15 min | Veggie Stew |
| Big Brain | +10% Crafting and Construction XP | 10 min | Balanced Stew |
| Sweet Tooth | +25% hunger and thirst from snacks and soda, +50% from sweets | 15 min | Sweet Porridge |
| Sugar High | -25% stamina drain, but +10% fatigue drain and +25% continence drain | 10 min | Sugary Slop |
| Bodacious | +25% max carry weight | 10 min | Hearty Stew |
| Mega-Ante | +10% movement speed, +2 Strength | 10 min | A&L Mega-Stew |
| Desire of the Flesh | +15% damage reduction, but the Leyak (IS-0091) shows up more often | 13 min | Greyeb Chowder |
| Rad Resistant | Incoming radiation halved | 15 min | Radfish Chowder (also gives Souper Satisfied) |
| Brain Freeze | +1 heat resistance | 10 min | Glacial Gazpacho |
| Too Hot to Handle | A burst of fire when you’re attacked | 2 min | Spicy Royal Bisque |
The trade-off: the 12 special-buff soups don’t give Souper Satisfied, so eating one means losing the slower hunger and thirst drain. Radfish Chowder is the only soup with two buffs.
Best soups in Abiotic Factor (our picks)
These picks are GamingRoute’s own reading of the wiki data, not official rankings. The hunger and thirst comparisons use the pre-1.5 values above.
- Early game: Simple Tomato Soup and Split Pea Soup. Both use simple ingredients (Tomato or Canned Peas plus Salt, and a Raw Pest for the split pea version) and give Souper Satisfied. Bland Pea Soup is the same peas and salt without the pest, and it swaps the buff for Lightfooted (+10% Sprinting/Sneaking XP).
- Best use of an M.R.E.: Sustenance Soup. One Military M.R.E. alone restores 30 hunger. As soup it becomes 8 to 12 servings at about 18 hunger and 16 thirst each, and it adds Quick Reflexes for gun-skill XP.
- Most filling: Witching Hour Brew (42 hunger), Silky Consommé (38) and A&L Mega-Stew (37). On the wiki’s numbers, a Mega-Stew pot at Cooking 17 restores 444 hunger in total. It also gives the strongest combat buff.
- Most hydrating: Greyeb Chowder (42 thirst), Creamy Tomato Bisque (37) and Mashed Potatoes (33). Greyeb Chowder’s damage reduction comes with more Leyak visits. Skip it if that enemy gives you trouble.
- Hauling runs: Hearty Stew. +25% carry weight for 10 minutes, from a Raw Exor Heart, Carbuncle Mushroom and Super Tomato.
- Radiation zones: Radfish Chowder. It halves radiation for 15 minutes and still keeps hunger and thirst drain slow.
- Hot or cold areas: Glacial Gazpacho gives +1 heat resistance. For cold, the wiki lists hot foods (Toasty Tummy, +1 cold resistance) such as the pot dish Risotto 98.

Abiotic Factor fish soup recipes

Pot dishes and crafting soups
Three pot recipes make food you take straight from the pot, with no Soup Bowl. Their wiki pages disagree on values since 1.5, so we left the numbers out:
- Pot of Xanterium Rice: Xanterium Rice, makes Bowls of Xanterium Rice.
- Risotto 98: Raw IS-0098 Tentacles + Xanterium Rice + Carbuncle Mushroom, makes Bowls of Risotto 98 (Toasty Tummy).
- Pumpkin Ravioli: Pumpkin + Raw Pumpkin Dough + Salt, makes Bowls of Pumpkin Ravioli.
Four “soups” are really crafting recipes:
| Recipe | Ingredients | Makes | Cook time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glue (Soup) | Peccary Skull | 4 Giga Glue | 2:40 |
| Fisherman’s Glue (Soup) | Hydrochloric Acid + Fish Bones | 4 Fisherman’s Glue | 2:40 |
| Solder (Soup) | Silver Scrap + Metal Scrap | 4 Solder (story item: the Blacksmith trades Fibre Optic Cables for it) | 5:50 |
| Alien Cheese Curds | Vial of Milk + Hydrochloric Acid + Anteverse Gel | 1 Ripening Alien Cheese Wheel | 2:00 |
Bad, toxic and killer soups to avoid
When ingredients don’t match a recipe, the result depends on what went in. Any single bad ingredient decides the outcome:
- Bad Soup (any non-matching mix of normal ingredients): it causes Borborygmus, which turns into Sick if you trigger it again while it lasts (10 minutes).
- Poop Soup (a Bag of Feces on its own): Stinky (enemies notice you more) and Sick.
- Toxic Soup (Rotten Food, Rotten Fish, Plastic Scrap, Giga Glue, Bag of Feces, Human Brain, Human Arm (Military), Exor Arm, Vibrant Exor Arm or Corrupted Corn): Sick, which makes you vomit away hunger and thirst. Exor Arm is on this list, so only use it in the exact A&L Mega-Stew recipe.
- Killer Soup (Glass, Tech, Metal or Silver Scrap outside the solder recipe; 9mm, .357 Magnum, 12g Buckshot, .308 or 5.56 ammo; Leyak Essence or The Bad Soda): the Death debuff, which kills you when its 45 seconds run out.

FAQ
What level do you need to make soup in Abiotic Factor?
Cooking level 3. Frying food raises it, and analyzing the Blacksmith’s pot of solder sets Cooking to 3 if it’s lower.
How do you unlock soup recipes in Abiotic Factor?
Cook a soup with the right ingredients and it goes into the Compendium’s Soup Recipes tab. A soup with the right number of ingredients but one wrong one still unlocks the closest recipe, even though you get Bad Soup. Interacting with a placed pot of soup without a bowl also unlocks its recipe.
What is the best early game soup in Abiotic Factor?
Our pick is Simple Tomato Soup or Split Pea Soup for Souper Satisfied, or Sustenance Soup if you have a Military M.R.E. to spare.
Do soups spoil in Abiotic Factor?
No. Soups don’t spoil in the pot or in a Soup Bowl, and they don’t burn if you leave them on the stove. The catch is space: one inventory slot holds at most one full bowl (2 servings).
Did the 1.5 update change soups?
Deep Field Games changed food nutrition in 1.5 (October 26) and cut it back in hotfix 1.5.0.31876 (November 3), without listing single recipes. No soup ingredients or soup buffs were reported changed, so the recipes above still apply. Expect the hunger and thirst values to differ slightly in game.
