Palworld breeding combos changed with version 1.0. Pocketpair’s official 1.0 changelog says breeding combinations “have been reviewed overall”, so many early-access combo charts are now wrong. Every combo below comes from the game data on paldb.cc, which tracks the current patch, v1.0.5 (September 15, 2026). Data checked October 28, 2026 UTC.
The rule itself still works the same way. Each Pal has a hidden breeding power. The child is the Pal whose power is closest to the average of its two parents, unless the pair has a fixed unique combo.
Table of Contents
Quick answer
- Normal rule: child = the Pal with the breeding power closest to (parent A + parent B) / 2. A lower number means a stronger, rarer Pal.
- Scale changed in 1.0: breeding power now runs from 30 (Aegidron) to 3,100 (the Terraria slimes). Anubis is 480, Jetragon 70, Lamball 3,050. Old values, like Anubis at 570, are from early access.
- Unique combos: paldb lists 162 fixed pairs. Jormuntide + Blazehowl = Jormuntide Ignis, Frostallion + Helzephyr = Frostallion Noct, Relaxaurus + Sparkit = Relaxaurus Lux.
- Self-breed only: 24 Pals, including Jetragon, Shadowbeak, Necromus, Paladius, Orserk, Grizzbolt, Lyleen and Faleris, can only be bred from two of their own kind.
- Anubis in 1.0: Celesdir + Flaracle or Tetroise + Jormuntide Ignis. The old Penking + Bushi pair now gives Sibelyx.
- New in 1.0: Mutation (about 1% per egg, higher with the Extravagant Vegetable Cake), four new cakes and the Ancient Hatchery.
Is Palworld 1.0 out, and which version is current?
Yes. Palworld left early access in July 2026. Pocketpair posted the 1.0 changelog on Steam on July 10, 2026. Since then the game has had patches v1.0.1 through v1.0.5 (September 15, a bug-fix patch). None of the 1.0.x notes change breeding results. The only breeding-related fix is in v1.0.4: extra mutated eggs from Grintale’s skill now carry their mutated stats. On October 20, Pocketpair announced the next update, “Palworld: Side by Side”, for winter 2026. paldb notes that breeding results are fixed within a version but can move with updates, so check this table again after that patch.

How breeding works in Palworld
- Unlock the Breeding Farm at technology level 19 and build it for 10 Wooden Boards, 20 Stone and 50 Fiber (paldb).
- Assign one male and one female Pal. Gender only matters for the Katress and Wixen pair (see below).
- Put a cake in the farm’s chest. The farm won’t produce eggs without one. A basic Cake takes 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs and 2 Honey.
- Collect the egg and hatch it in an incubator. According to the 1.0 notes, new worlds on Normal and Hard difficulty have half the incubation time, and the World Settings can lower it further.
Late in the game, the Ancient Hatchery (technology 76) handles both laying and hatching. paldb lists it with 10 slots, a +100% incubation speed bonus and a 1,200 power draw. It costs 100 Paloxite Ingots, 50 AI Cores, 30 Ancient Civilization Parts and 20 Ancient Civilization Cores.
The breeding power formula, with examples
Take the average of the two parents’ breeding power, then find the Pal whose value is nearest. Pals that only come from a unique combo or from self-breeding are left out of this search. When two Pals are equally close, a hidden priority value in the game data decides. That’s why calculators sometimes pick the “other” neighbour. We checked each example below in paldb’s calculator.
| Parents (breeding power) | Average | Child (power) |
|---|---|---|
| Chikipi (3,080) + Lamball (3,050) | 3,065 | Teafant (3,070) |
| Lamball (3,050) + Cattiva (2,760) | 2,905 | Daedream (2,910) |
| Relaxaurus (1,090) + Mau (3,040) | 2,065 | Penking (2,070) |
| Grizzbolt (1,020) + Lamball (3,050) | 2,035 | Katress (2,040) |
| Anubis (480) + Lamball (3,050) | 1,765 | Hoodle (1,770) |
| Penking (2,070) + Bushi (1,560) | 1,815 | Sibelyx (1,810) |
There’s a practical consequence. Unless a pair has a unique combo, the child can’t be stronger than the stronger parent. To work your way up toward a rare Pal, keep breeding your strongest Pal with each new child. Every step moves the average closer to that strong parent’s value.
Best Palworld breeding combos in 1.0
These are fixed unique pairs from paldb’s v1.0.5 table, picked for strong or useful results. The order of the parents doesn’t matter, except for Katress and Wixen.
| Child | Parent A | Parent B | Why it’s worth it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jormuntide Ignis (170) | Jormuntide | Blazehowl | Very low breeding power from two mid-game parents; a key parent in endgame chains |
| Frostallion Noct (110) | Frostallion | Helzephyr | The Dark legendary; Frostallion itself only comes from capture or Frostallion + Frostallion |
| Lyleen Noct (220) | Lyleen | Menasting | Dark variant of Lyleen |
| Faleris Aqua (450) | Faleris | Jormuntide | Water variant of Faleris |
| Suzaku Aqua (740) | Suzaku | Jormuntide | Water variant of Suzaku |
| Eidrolon Ignis (140) | Eidrolon | Suzaku | Very low breeding power (strong), Fire variant |
| Tetroise Primo (200) | Tetroise | Celesdir | Low-power variant from mid-game parents |
| Celesdir Noct (270) | Celesdir | Kitsun Noct | Dark variant two steps up from Celesdir |
| Celesdir (570) | Gildane | Eikthyrdeer Terra | Parent for Anubis, Tetroise Primo and Starryon Primo |
| Whalaska Ignis (370) | Whalaska | Chillet Ignis | Fire variant of Whalaska |
| Knocklem Ignis (210) | Knocklem | Ragnahawk | Fire variant of Knocklem |
| Dualith Noct (250) | Dualith | Sootseer | Dark variant of Dualith |
| Helzephyr Lux (960) | Helzephyr | Beakon | Electric flyer |
| Kitsun Noct (800) | Kitsun | Nyafia | Needed for Celesdir Noct |
| Pierdon Cryst (460) | Pierdon | Wumpo | A cheap step toward low-power Pals in the 1.0 chain below |
| Mossanda Lux (1,440) | Mossanda | Grizzbolt | Electric variant of Mossanda |
| Relaxaurus Lux (770) | Relaxaurus | Sparkit | Electric variant of Relaxaurus |
| Broncherry Aqua (1,080) | Broncherry | Fuack | Its partner skill gives eggs you pick up a 45-55% chance to become Alpha eggs (paldb) |
One combo depends on gender, according to the Palworld wiki. A female Wixen with a male Katress gives Wixen Noct, and a female Katress with a male Wixen gives Katress Ignis.
How to breed Anubis in Palworld 1.0
With a breeding power of 480 in 1.0, Anubis needs much stronger parents than in early access. paldb’s parent calculator lists 231 pairs. These three use Pals you can breed yourself:
| Parent A (power) | Parent B (power) | Average |
|---|---|---|
| Celesdir (570) | Flaracle (390) | 480 |
| Tetroise (790) | Jormuntide Ignis (170) | 480 |
| Jormuntide (590) | Whalaska Ignis (370) | 480 |
The Penking + Bushi pair from early-access guides now gives Sibelyx (1,810), because both parents’ values moved in 1.0.
Pals you can only breed from themselves
paldb’s unique table lists these Pals as “self-breed only”: two of them give the same Pal, and no other pair produces it. No other pair produces them, so you need to catch the first two.
| Group | Pals |
|---|---|
| Legendary and late-game Pals | Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus, Blazamut Ryu, Shadowbeak, Orserk, Bellanoir Libero, Selyne, Xenovader, Xenogard, Xenolord, Bastigor, Neptilius, Hartalis, Shaolong, Dandilord, Silvance, Panthalus, Astralym |
| Other strong Pals | Grizzbolt, Lyleen, Faleris, Mimog |
| Terraria collab creatures | Green Slime and Cave Bat (the other slimes, bats, Eye of Cthulhu, Demon Eye and Enchanted Sword come only from Terraria-only pairs) |
They still work as parents. Shadowbeak (550) or Selyne (360) can be paired with mid-power Pals in normal combos. Jetragon and Frostallion Noct also show up among the possible Anubis parents.

Palworld 1.0 added 47 new Pals and 25 variants, and reworked breeding combinations across the game. Image: Pocketpair
A 1.0 breeding chain from four early Pals
paldb published a 1.0 route that starts from four catchable Pals: Incineram, Hangyu, Eikthyrdeer and Grizzbolt. paldb places a level-30 Grizzbolt at No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary. We checked every step against the breeding-power table and the unique list.
| Step | Pair | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Grizzbolt + Incineram | Nyafia |
| 2 | Nyafia + Incineram | Blazehowl |
| 3 | Blazehowl + Grizzbolt | Bulldosu |
| 4 | Bulldosu + Grizzbolt | Pierdon |
| 5 | Grizzbolt + Hangyu | Valentail |
| 6 | Valentail + Bulldosu | Digtoise |
| 7 | Digtoise + Grizzbolt | Warsect |
| 8 | Warsect + Digtoise | Warsect Terra (unique) |
| 9 | Warsect Terra + Grizzbolt | Wumpo |
| 10 | Wumpo + Pierdon | Pierdon Cryst (unique) |
| 11 | Pierdon Cryst + Warsect | Sekhmet |
| 12 | Sekhmet + Pierdon Cryst | Whalaska |
| 13 | Whalaska + Pierdon Cryst | Jormuntide |
| 14 | Jormuntide + Blazehowl | Jormuntide Ignis (unique) |
| 15 | Jormuntide + Jormuntide Ignis | Flaracle |
| 16 | Jormuntide Ignis + Flaracle | Solenne |
| 17 | Jormuntide + Flaracle | Astegon |
| 18 | Pierdon Cryst + Jormuntide Ignis | Eidrolon |
The same route branches further. Hangyu + Eikthyrdeer gives Eikthyrdeer Terra. Warsect + Jormuntide Ignis gives Gildane, and Gildane + Eikthyrdeer Terra gives Celesdir. Grizzbolt + Celesdir gives Tetroise. At that point you have every parent for the three Anubis pairs above.
Mutation and the 1.0 cakes
Mutation is new in 1.0. Pocketpair describes it as “a low chance of producing a Pal stronger than the normal breeding result”, with higher stats and a unique passive skill. Mutated eggs follow their own result list, so a mutated egg won’t contain the Pal the normal formula predicts. paldb puts the base chance at about 1% per egg, from player testing rather than official figures. Its test data shows these mutation-only passives: Immortality, Idiosyncratic, Babysitter, Heavily Armored and Sky Strider.
| Cake | Technology | Effect | Mutation chance (paldb testing) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cake | Not listed | Required for eggs, no bonus | About 1% |
| Mushroom Cake | 30 | Slightly better stats for newborn Pals | About 1% |
| Vegetable Cake | 47 | Two eggs at once | About 1% per egg |
| Extravagant Vegetable Cake | 60 | More mutations, better stat growth | About 3% |
| Special Cake | 74 | Higher chance to inherit several passive skills | About 1% |
The 1.0 changelog in English calls the mutation cake “Deluxe Vegetable Cake”. The in-game data that paldb reads names it Extravagant Vegetable Cake. It’s the same item.
Passive and active skill inheritance
- Active skills: since 1.0, inherited active skills are “randomly selected from the three active skill slots set on the parent Pals” (patch notes). Before breeding, set the skills you want to pass on.
- Passives: paldb’s tests found a child inherits 0 to 4 passives from the parents, and the Special Cake makes several more likely. For a four-passive Pal, breed two parents that only carry the passives you want.
- Stats: paldb’s testing says each IV has a 30% chance to come from each parent and a 40% chance to roll randomly, and an egg has about a 5% chance to hatch an Alpha.
How to breed faster
| Pal | Partner skill effect (per paldb) |
|---|---|
| Braloha | At a base, Breeding Farm Pals lay eggs 20-50% faster |
| Dynamoff | At a base, eggs incubate 20-40% faster |
| Grintale | In the party, a 50-75% chance of an extra egg when you pick one up |
| Broncherry / Broncherry Aqua | In the party, a 35-45% / 45-55% chance that eggs you pick up become Alpha eggs |
The new “Babysitter” mutation passive (+30% egg production and incubation speed at a Breeding Farm) stacks with these, and a Disposable Implant at the Pal Surgery Table can grant it. For base layouts and farming setups, see our older Palworld high grade manual farm guide and our Palworld tips for beginners. Both date from early access, so their numbers predate 1.0.

FAQ
Did Palworld 1.0 change breeding combos?
Yes. Pocketpair’s 1.0 changelog says combinations were “reviewed overall” to match game progression. Breeding power values moved too: Anubis went from 570 in early access to 480, and the whole scale now runs to 3,100. Combo charts from 2024 and 2025 are out of date.
Can you breed Jetragon or Shadowbeak in Palworld?
Only from a pair of the same Pal. In paldb’s v1.0.5 data, Jetragon + Jetragon and Shadowbeak + Shadowbeak are the only pairs that produce them. You have to catch the first two.
What is the best Anubis combo in Palworld 1.0?
Celesdir + Flaracle and Tetroise + Jormuntide Ignis both average exactly 480, Anubis’s breeding power. You can reach both with the four-Pal chain above.
What does a mutated egg do?
It hatches a different Pal from the normal result, with higher stats and a mutation-only passive such as Immortality or Babysitter. paldb’s testing puts the chance at about 1% per egg, or 3% with the Extravagant Vegetable Cake.
Is there a Palworld breeding calculator for 1.0?
Yes. paldb.cc’s breeding calculator runs on v1.0.5 data and includes mutation results and a shortest-path tool. It is fan-made and not affiliated with Pocketpair.
