What is Dressmaker?
In Dressmaker you run a small dress shop in a gossipy town. Each step of making a dress is hands-on: you sketch the design, buy fabric, lay out the pattern pieces along the grain or on the bias, cut them out, feed them through the sewing machine, and add buttons, bows, lace and appliqué. According to the developers, the story commissions take about 35 hours, with more than 150 dress pieces, 450 fabrics and 350 accessories. You can also sell ready-made dresses from your shop window, and you can pet the shop cat.
It runs on Windows and Mac, and Valve rates it “Playable” on Steam Deck. It plays with a mouse; full controller support isn’t in yet. The October 14 update (build 443) reworked trim placement and added accessibility options such as “Fast Trim Placement” and “Less Animation”. There’s no demo.

Is Dressmaker on Switch or mobile?
Not yet. In its launch post the studio said it is “planning mobile and Switch ports”, along with controller support, an online challenge mode where players vote on each other’s designs, and transparent fabrics, but no dates have been announced (Dressmaker news on Steam). On October 19 the US eShop had no Dressmaker listing.
Watch out for lookalikes: the Microsoft Store lists a free “Dressmaker” from Fornation Studio and a “Dressmaker Simulator” from Mubis Apps. Neither one is made by Cozy Lives.

You start in an abandoned workshop, take customer orders, choose fabrics from cotton to linen, and design collections to sell in your own store, then hire staff and expand as the business grows. It has more management than Dressmaker and less fine sewing detail. Tailor Simulator launched in Early Access on February 5, 2026 for $9.99 on Windows and is Very Positive (89% of about 520 reviews). Worth your time if you liked running Dressmaker’s shop as much as sewing.
2. Fashion Dreamer
Marvelous’s influencer game on Switch is about creating outfits for a virtual world of fashion fans called Muses. When your styles catch on, you earn Likes and unlock more clothes. It has more than 1,400 items you can customize with your own styles and colors. One important catch: online mode ended on March 16, 2026, so only solo play remains (Nintendo eShop listing). It costs $49.99 and Nintendo lists it as supported on Switch 2. Worth your time if you want a Dressmaker-style design game you can play on a handheld today.

3. Infinity Nikki
A free-to-play open-world dress-up adventure in which your outfits have abilities that help you explore, solve puzzles and platform. It’s the fifth game in the Nikki series and is on PC (Steam and Epic), PS5, iOS and Android. Steam user reviews are Mixed (58% of about 10,600). Worth your time if collecting and styling outfits matters more to you than making them.
4. Dress to Impress
One of the biggest games on Roblox: you put together outfits, strut the runway with poses and vote for your favorite looks with other players. A free otome visual novel on Steam. You play a fashion designer with her own boutique, design clothes for clients to earn gold, and spend that gold to unlock the next chapter of a romance route. 7. Potionomics: Masterwork Edition
You inherit your uncle’s potion shop along with his huge debt, brew potions to sell, haggle with customers through a deck-building system, and befriend (or romance) the other vendors. With a debt to pay off, it has more challenge than Dressmaker. The PC original is $24.99 on Steam (Very Positive, 90%); the Masterwork Edition is $29.99 on Switch, PS5 and Xbox. Worth your time if you want crafting with stakes.
8. The Witch’s Bakery
The newest game here: a 2D adventure RPG in which you’re a witch running a bakery in Paris, serving customers and helping them with their troubles through your pastries. It’s $19.99 on PC, Switch, Switch 2 and PS5, and it’s also out on Xbox Series X|S. The launch discount takes it to $17.99 on Steam until October 28 (17:00 UTC) and on the eShop until November 5 (07:59 UTC); on PS5 the 10% discount is for PS Plus members only. You run a late-night Seattle coffee shop for elves, orcs and other fantasy regulars, mixing drinks to order while they work through their problems. Getting each order right for that particular customer is very close to tailoring a dress to a client’s brief.
