Each one drew more than 140,000 players on October 19, according to Epic’s own player data. Every code below was checked against Epic’s public Fortnite Data API on October 20, 2026 at 10:00 UTC. Squad up on any of them and your XP counts toward the free Safety in Numbers rewards.

What is “Horrors Worth Facing Together”?
It’s the top tile in Fortnite’s Battle Royale news feed this week. Epic’s text says creators “have brought their own horrors to life for Fortnitemares.” It tells you to explore a Collection of “spine-chilling Islands” and to “face the fear with friends to unlock the Safety in Numbers Quest” (in-game news feed via fortnite-api.com, checked October 20).
One catch: the Collection only appears inside the game’s Discover tab. Epic hasn’t put the list of islands on fortnite.com or in its patch notes. So we built our list from Epic’s own data instead. The Fortnite Data API publishes an hourly Horror genre ranking (7,279 islands on October 20). It also lists each island’s code, creator, tags and daily player numbers. On the official browse page, Epic shows the same genre as Horror codes and maps.

Here are 12 islands from the top 20 of Epic’s Horror ranking (snapshot October 20, 10:00 UTC). We skipped entries that aren’t really horror, such as a build-fight practice map and a tycoon. Player numbers are for the full day of October 19, UTC.

Rankings move every hour. A map that’s 15th this morning could be 8th tonight. The codes don’t change, though, so the table stays useful all month.
Murder Mystery (5253-8468-3364)
This is the giant of the group: 171,367 unique players on October 19. Each round splits the lobby into survivors, one murderer and a sheriff. The island page says its Halloween update arrived on October 1. It also won Fortnite’s Island of the Year vote in January 2025. It’s the best pick for a big party that wants quick, chaotic rounds.
SCALE (7288-9515-0748)
SCALE is a co-op physics extraction game. You raid dangerous places for valuables and try to get out before something catches you. Its tags are survival horror, co-op, physics and “choices matter.” It had 146,218 unique players and the longest average session in our table (45.5 minutes). That makes it a strong pick for long Safety in Numbers grinds.
Trick, Treat, Die! (9279-9186-3094)
This is the most Halloween-themed island on the list. In the island’s own words, Mom drops you at the end of the street and won’t come back until you’ve knocked on enough doors. You team up with up to 3 friends, pick your houses and find out who’s home. Some doors are friendly. Others are not.
ABYSS (8835-4983-3982)
This one is deep-sea horror. Your crew takes a submarine to raid abandoned facilities for salvage, and something in the dark is hunting you. It’s tagged survival horror, party game and casual, so it works well for friends who don’t play many horror games.

HIDE OR DIE (6386-2237-2556) and SCREAM AND RUN (2522-4269-4932)
HIDE OR DIE is a 2-10 player party game with proximity chat. The listing promises jumpscares and more than 15 monsters, and recent updates added Slender Man and Foxy. SCREAM AND RUN is a first-person escape map. Epic’s data tags it horror, survival horror, first person and escape.
FNAF – Night Shift Survival (5382-8693-1539)
This one is perfect if you’re already chasing the FNAF bosses in Battle Royale. It’s a creator-made survival map with Freddy, Chica and Cupcake. A recent update added Balloon Boy and two prank weapons.
The Morgue Shift (1314-9783-9214) and Phantom Investigation (9919-3137-0527)
These two suit players who want story and atmosphere over chaos. In The Morgue Shift, you work the night shift in a hospital morgue. It has 50+ bodies, choice-driven endings and room for 1-4 players. Phantom Investigation is a ghost-hunting game for up to 4 players. Players stayed an average of 35 minutes on October 19.
Werewolf Murder Mystery, 99 Nights Into the Wood and Lighthouse Zombies
Werewolf Murder Mystery puts a werewolf twist on the classic formula, and it just got a “Full moon” update. 99 Nights Into the Wood is a base-building survival map, and its own listing says it’s not an official map. Lighthouse Zombies is first-person co-op with endless rounds, 8 perks and three difficulty levels.
How to unlock the Safety in Numbers rewards
Safety in Numbers is a 10-quest track. Every quest has the same task: Earn XP in Horror Creator-made Islands in a party with friends. According to Beebom and Game Rant, each quest asks for 80,000 XP (800,000 in total), and each one also pays 10,000 XP. Game Rant names the first four islands in our table as maps that count.

What to do first:
- Invite at least one friend before you load in. The quest only tracks XP earned in a party.
- Pick a horror island from the table and enter its code in Discover search.
- Open your Quests tab after the first match and check that the bar moved.
- Stick to longer sessions. Murder Mystery and SCALE hold players for about 45 minutes on average, so your party won’t run out of rounds.
- Don’t bother with Battle Royale, Reload, Horde Rush or OG for this track. XP from those modes doesn’t count.
Deadline: the sources disagree. Beebom says October 31, 2026. Game Rant says the questline runs until November 12 at 6 AM ET. The quest timer in your game is the final word, but play it safe and finish before the season ends on November 1.
