Phoenix Feather, Demeters Necklace and Tungsten Ankh make the core prestige set. Plus every artifact’s effect, the ship unlock order and when to prestige.

Egg, Inc. artifacts are permanent farm bonuses you bring back on spaceship missions. You can equip 2 at a time, or 4 with the Pro Permit. For prestiging, the community-standard set is a Phoenix Feather plus your best Demeters Necklace and Tungsten Ankh, with a Book of Basan or Vial of Martian Dust in the fourth slot. Prestige as soon as your farm slows down and you have nothing left to do on the current egg. Always prestige before you start a second round of boosts.

This guide adds to our Egg, Inc. master guide with beginner tips. It answers the two questions players ask once they reach the late game: which artifacts to use, and when to prestige. Facts were checked on October 29, 2026 against the community Egg, Inc. Wiki (its Artifacts, Recommended Artifact Sets, Spaceships and Prestige pages) and Auxbrain’s own App Store listing. The current version there is 1.37.2, from August 22, 2026. None of the update notes since version 1.32 (April 2024) mention artifact changes.

Quick answer

  • How to get artifacts: launch spaceships from Mission Control. They return artifacts, Eggfinity stones and crafting ingredients. You can also craft artifacts in the Hall of Artifacts.
  • Fastest progress: send short missions on the best ship you have. Short runs unlock the next ship fastest and bring back the most items per hour.
  • Best prestige set: Phoenix Feather, Demeters Necklace and Tungsten Ankh, plus a Book of Basan or Vial of Martian Dust. Use Shell stones early, then Terra, Soul and Prophecy stones later.
  • Best boosting set: Chalice, Dilithium Monocle and Gusset with Life stones. Equip Dilithium stones just to start your boosts, then swap them out.
  • Skip: the Titanium Actuator, which the wiki calls “truly, genuinely worthless”. Never equip a Beak of Midas together with a Carved Rainstick.
  • When to prestige: when progress slows and your current egg has nothing left to do. Run one set of boosts, run chickens during them, then prestige.

How to get artifacts in Egg, Inc.

Artifacts arrived in version 1.20, together with spaceships. The launch pad appears next to the Hatchery once you have Soul Eggs and a Rocket Fuel Egg farm. To finish building it, the farm has to lay 100,000 eggs a minute. After that, you fund a ship with cash and fuel it with eggs. You can have up to three missions in flight at once.

Each mission comes in three lengths: short, standard and extended. Longer runs bring back more items of higher quality, but the wiki’s advice is clear. For climbing the ship ladder, short runs win, because each new ship needs a set number of launches of the one before it. Short runs also raise a ship’s star rating fastest when you can keep up with fuelling. Stars add capacity and quality to every run.

Egg, Inc. spaceship unlock order

Ship Unlock requirement Short mission
Chicken One Rocket Fuel farm at 100,000 eggs/min 20 min
Chicken Nine 4 Chicken One launches + 25K Soul Eggs 30 min
Chicken Heavy 6 Chicken Nine launches + 25K Soul Eggs 45 min
BCR 12 Chicken Heavy launches + 250K Soul Eggs 1 h 30 min
Quintillion Chicken 15 BCR launches + 2.5M Soul Eggs 3 h
Cornish-Hen Corvette 18 Quintillion Chicken launches + 50M Soul Eggs 4 h
Galeggtica 21 Corvette launches + 1B Soul Eggs 6 h
Defihent 24 Galeggtica launches + 25B Soul Eggs 8 h
Voyegger 27 Defihent launches + 500B Soul Eggs 12 h
Henerprise 30 Voyegger launches + 10T Soul Eggs 1 day
Atreggies Henliner 40 Henerprise launches + 100T Soul Eggs 2 days

Three tips from the wiki’s spaceship strategy:

  • Don’t craft on the way up. Whatever you can craft today will drop for free from the next ship, so it’s mostly safe to consume low-tier artifacts as you climb.
  • Never consume ingredients. You’ll need them for crafting later.
  • Leave the sensor target alone for now. Targeting works from the Quintillion Chicken up. It raises the drop rate of the item family you pick, but it lowers the ship’s quality, which can cut your chances of the top tier. The wiki only recommends it on an 8-star Henliner or Henerprise.

The Chicken Heavy is a useful exception. On short runs it brings back 12 items every 45 minutes using only Rocket Fuel eggs, so you can farm low-quality crafting materials without changing eggs.

Every Egg, Inc. artifact and what it does

Each artifact has four tiers, written T1 to T4. Higher tiers can also come in rare, epic or legendary versions, written C, R, E or L, so “T4L chalice” means a legendary Eggceptional Chalice. Every artifact has a legendary version at tier 4. Only the Tungsten Ankh also has one at tier 3. Rarer versions are stronger and have more stone sockets, up to 3 on most legendaries. The table shows the weakest and strongest versions, as listed on the wiki.

Artifact What it boosts T1 common to best T4
Phoenix Feather Soul Egg gain on prestige Shown +25% to 15x (real effect about +4.8% to +76.6%)
Demeters Necklace Egg value +10% to +200%
Tungsten Ankh Egg value +10% to +150%
Book of Basan Bonus per Egg of Prophecy +0.25 to +1.2 percentage points
Vial of Martian Dust Max running chicken bonus Raises the cap; value depends on your Terra stones
The Chalice Internal hatchery rate +5% to +40%
Dilithium Monocle Feed, soul beacon and prism boosts +5% to +30%
Gusset Habitat capacity +5% to +25%
Quantum Metronome Egg laying rate +5% to +35%
Interstellar Compass Shipping rate +5% to +50%
Tachyon Deflector Co-op mates’ laying rate (contracts) +5% to +20%
Mercury’s Lens Farm value +10% to +200%
Puzzle Cube Common research cost -5% to -60%
Lunar Totem Earnings while away +100% to 200x
Aurelian Brooch Drone rewards +10% to +200%
Neodymium Medallion Drone frequency +10% to +130%
Beak of Midas Golden Egg drones 36% to 100% of drones
Carved Rainstick Cash drones At most about +43% cash from drones
Light of Eggendil Enlightenment Egg value only Only useful on Enlightenment
Ship in a Bottle Co-op mates’ earnings +20% to +100%
Titanium Actuator Hold to Hatch rate No measurable effect

Watch out for the Phoenix Feather’s in-game number. It doesn’t give that many more Soul Eggs. It counts your earnings as if they were higher by that amount, and Soul Egg gain grows much more slowly than earnings. That’s why the wiki lists a much smaller “real” effect. Even so, nothing else you can equip comes close, so the feather goes into every prestige set.

Best artifact sets in Egg, Inc.

Artifact sets, added in version 1.27, let you save a loadout and swap between them quickly. The wiki’s Recommended Artifact Sets page boils the useful ones down to these five.

Prestige set (earning Soul Eggs)

  • Phoenix Feather: “functionally mandatory”.
  • Demeters Necklace: usually your best money artifact.
  • Tungsten Ankh: usually your second-best money artifact.
  • Book of Basan or Vial of Martian Dust: which one wins depends on how many Eggs of Prophecy and Terra stones you have.
  • Stones: Shell stones (egg value) when your stone collection is weak. Later, Terra, Soul and Prophecy stones.

For a money set without prestiging, for example to set up a contract, take out the feather and add your next-best money artifact.

Internal hatchery set (filling habs while boosting)

Use a Chalice plus a Dilithium Monocle, which multiplies tachyon prisms, and fill every socket with Life stones. Add a Gusset so the extra hab space actually fills up, and a Quantum Metronome if you’re on a contract.

Dilithium set (longer boosts)

Put as many high-tier Dilithium stones as you can into any artifacts. Equip this set, start your boosts, then switch straight to another set. Dilithium only counts at the moment a boost starts. According to the wiki, twelve T4 Dilithium stones stretch a 10-minute boost to about 25 minutes.

Drone set (Golden Eggs)

Equip a Beak of Midas, Aurelian Brooch and Neodymium Medallion. Without artifacts, 30% of drones drop Golden Eggs. Any T4 Beak raises that to 100% on a normal farm, so you don’t need a legendary one for drones. Never pair a Beak with a Carved Rainstick, because they cancel each other out.

Shipping set (contracts)

Once your habs are full on a contract, swap to a Tachyon Deflector (it speeds up your whole co-op), plus a Quantum Metronome and Gusset. Add an Interstellar Compass if your laying rate is now higher than your shipping rate. Slot Tachyon and Quantum stones.

When to prestige in Egg, Inc.

Prestiging resets your chickens, common research, habs, silos, vehicles and egg type, and pays out Soul Eggs based on how much cash you earned since your last prestige. You keep your permit, Epic Research, Hyperloop Station, Golden Eggs, Piggy Bank level, boosts, Mystical Eggs and every artifact. The wiki’s rule of thumb is simple: if the game is slowing down and you have no goals that need the current egg, prestige. An older TouchTapPlay guide gives the same advice: prestige when progress “seems to be slowing down to a crawl”. The prestige screen shows how many Soul Eggs you’ll get before you confirm.

Waiting longer pays less and less. In the late game, Soul Eggs grow with roughly the 0.21 power of your earnings, so doubling your cash only gives about 16% more Soul Eggs. The wiki says the slowing gain “encourag[es] frequent prestiging over waiting”.

Simple prestige routine (standard permit)

  1. Move to the highest-value egg you’ve unlocked and build up your population. Leave some hab space free so you can run chickens.
  2. Equip your Dilithium set, start a Soul Beacon and a bird feed boost, then switch to your prestige set.
  3. Run chickens across the screen while the boosts last, and keep buying research.
  4. Watch the video for the 2x earnings doubler. The wiki says that alone is worth about +16% Soul Eggs.
  5. When the boosts end, prestige. Don’t start a second round of boosts first, because the wiki calls that “a waste of GE”.

Prestige strategies by stage

Stage Strategy What it needs
Early game Prestige when the farm stalls, then boost and run chickens Soul Beacon + bird feed
Mid game Preload: fill the habs with a tachyon prism and boost beacon first, then run soul boosts and prestige Golden Eggs for prisms and beacons, a Dilithium set
Late game (Pro Permit) Multistige: two or more prestiges on one set of boosts Pro Permit, Hold to Research, Hyperloop, lots of Dilithium

For preloads and multistiges, the wiki points players to CarpetSage’s fan-made Smart Assistant. It reads your actual artifacts and stones and picks your best prestige set. Its Artifact Explorer shows which ships drop what.

Epic Research that makes each prestige count

Epic Research Per level Max
Soul Food +1 percentage point per Soul Egg (base 10%) +140%
Prestige Bonus +10% Soul Eggs per prestige +200%
Prophecy Bonus +1 percentage point per Egg of Prophecy (base 5%) +5%

Eggs of Prophecy stack multiplicatively, so each one makes your Soul Eggs worth more. Most come from contracts, so co-op contracts and a good contract set pay off at every prestige.

Artifacts and the Path of Virtue

Version 1.35, released in September 2025, added the Path of Virtue. It is a set of five Eggs of Virtue after Enlightenment, and it unlocks once your account has laid 100T Enlightenment eggs in total. It changes how artifacts work:

  • On the Path, you can’t use your existing artifacts or collect ships you launched earlier. Artifacts you have equipped at home get locked, so the wiki advises unequipping everything before you ascend.
  • Ships and artifacts can only be managed on the Egg of Humility, though equipped artifacts keep working when you shift. Artifacts found on the Path only work on the Path.
  • Switching eggs (“shifting”) costs Soul Eggs. Normal boosts don’t work there, though the video doubler still does.
  • Prestiging while on the Path earns Eggs of Truth, a new kind of Mystical Egg.

If you’re not at Enlightenment yet, ignore the Path for now. The ship ladder and the prestige routine above matter far more.

FAQ

What is the best artifact in Egg, Inc.?

For progress, the Phoenix Feather, because it’s the only artifact that raises Soul Egg gain and it goes into every prestige set. For cash, the Demeters Necklace is usually best, with up to +200% egg value.

How many artifacts can you equip in Egg, Inc.?

Two with the standard permit and four with the Pro Permit. Each artifact can only be used on one farm at a time.

Should I craft or consume artifacts?

While you’re still unlocking ships, consume most low-tier artifacts and don’t craft. The next ship will drop what you could craft today. Never consume ingredients. Crafting gets cheaper the more you craft an item, and crafting sales usually run every other Sunday.

How often should you prestige in Egg, Inc.?

Whenever progress slows and your current egg has nothing left to give, after one set of boosts. Soul Egg gain slows as your earnings grow, so frequent prestiges beat long waits.

Do you lose artifacts when you prestige?

No. Prestiging keeps your artifacts (with their stones), Golden Eggs, Epic Research and ships in flight. The only time artifacts become unavailable is on the Path of Virtue.
