Best premium horror games on mobile

1. Little Nightmares

You guide Six, a small girl in a yellow raincoat, out of The Maw, a vast vessel full of grotesque adults “looking for their next meal”, as the App Store listing puts it. The listing calls it a mix of action and puzzle-platformer mechanics. Playdigious handles the mobile port. On iPhone it needs an A12 Bionic chip or newer (iPhone XS/XR onward) and about 2.2 GB of space. Google Play charges $8.49.

2. Alien: Isolation

Feral Interactive’s port of the 2014 survival horror game puts you on Sevastopol station as Amanda Ripley, searching for answers about her mother while an alien stalks the corridors. Google Play’s listing says you “play two missions, then unlock the full game via a single in-app purchase”: $14.99 on both stores, with all seven DLC packs included. Before you download, check the supported-device list in the App Store description, because older phones are excluded. It’s rated 17+.

3. Resident Evil Village, 4, 2 and 7 (iPhone only)

Capcom’s full console games are on the App Store, but only for iPhones with an A17 Pro chip or later, so iPhone 15 Pro and newer. The download is free and the game itself is an in-app purchase: Village $39.99, Resident Evil 4 $59.99 (Separate Ways $9.99 more), Resident Evil 2 $39.99 and Resident Evil 7 $19.99. They score 3.9 to 4.1 on the App Store. None of them is on Google Play.

4. Sally Face

New this summer: the cult adventure from Portable Moose launched on Google Play on July 29 and on iPhone on August 16, 2026, for $9.99 on both with no in-app purchases. You play a boy with a prosthetic face who uses his Gear Boy handheld to talk to the dead while a string of murders hits his town. Its listing says one developer made it, including the art and music. It’s the highest-rated game here, 4.9 on the App Store, though from only 273 ratings so far.

5. Among the Sleep

Another 2026 arrival (June 1 on Android, June 2 on iPhone). You’re a two-year-old who leaves bed after strange noises in the night, with a teddy bear as your guide. There’s no combat. It’s all atmosphere and exploration. The first levels are free. On iPhone the full game costs $6.99. Google Play lists in-app purchases of $4.99 to $6.99 but not which one is the unlock.

6. Choo-Choo Charles

Gavin Eisenbeisz’s game about a bloodthirsty train reached Android on May 26 and iPhone on June 7, 2026, for $4.99 with nothing else to buy. You drive your own engine around an island, upgrade it with scrap and finally fight Charles. Both stores rate it 17+. Reviews are still few: 4.8 from 49 on iPhone, 4.1 from 429 on Android.

7. Bendy and the Dark Revival

The first-person sequel to Bendy and the Ink Machine has been on mobile since November 2025 ($4.99). You play Audrey, trapped in a mad animation studio and hiding from the Ink Demon. Note that the iPhone version needs iOS 18. The original Bendy and the Ink Machine is also $4.99.

8. Five Nights at Freddy’s

The original jump-scare series: you’re a night guard watching cameras and rationing power while animatronics move closer. The series dominates Apple’s US Top Paid Games chart this week: the first game is #10, FNAF 2 is #17, FNAF 4 is #23, FNAF 3 is #38 and Sister Location is #40. Each costs $2.99. The listing says your device needs at least 2 GB of RAM.

9. Poppy Playtime Chapter 1

An abandoned toy factory, a GrabPack that grabs and hacks circuits, and vengeful toys such as Huggy Wuggy hunting you. Chapter 1 is $2.99 on both stores and #97 on Apple’s paid games chart. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 are separate apps at $4.99 each on iPhone.

10. DREDGE

The gentlest scare on this list: a fishing game “with a sinister undercurrent” where staying out after dark is the danger. On Google Play it’s $10.00, marked 60% off $24.99. Google doesn’t show when the sale ends. On iPhone the first area is free, and the App Store lists the base game unlock at both $9.99 and $24.99, so check the price in the game before you buy. The Pale Reach and The Iron Rig expansions cost extra.

11. LIMBO (and INSIDE on iPhone)

Playdead’s black-and-white puzzle platformer is short, wordless and grim, and $3.99 on both stores. Its follow-up INSIDE is free to try on iPhone with a $9.99 full-game unlock. We couldn’t find it on Google Play in the US.

12. Identity V

NetEase’s asymmetrical horror game puts four survivors against one hunter: survivors decode cipher machines and open the exit gate, the hunter tries to catch them first. It’s free with “Echoes” currency purchases ($0.99 to $99.99 on iPhone). Ratings split sharply: 4.7 from 133K on the App Store, but 2.7 from 807K on Google Play.

13. Granny

Granny locks you in her house and you have five days to escape. She hears everything, so a dropped item brings her running. It’s the biggest game on this list: 500M+ downloads and 4.4 million ratings on Google Play. It’s free with ads, and the sequel, Granny: Chapter Two, is free as well.

14. Eyes – The Horror Game

Search dark rooms for bags of money while a monster hunts you, then find the way out. The App Store listing describes a haunted mansion, an abandoned hospital and a deserted school, solo play that works offline, online co-op and a Versus mode. It has 100M+ downloads on Android. It’s free with ads. On iPhone, removing them costs $2.99.
