How we ranked the classes
This ranking is ours. We have not played the game, so it is a reasoned summary of other sources, not a test result. Each class was judged on four things:
- Solo strength: whether the class’s starting kit and Level 1 perks, as listed on the wiki, can carry a run without help from teammates.
- Value for Diamonds: a 70-Diamond class that stays useful all game can rank above a 600-Diamond class built on a gimmick.
- The grind to Level 3: how many kills, trees or revives the wiki says you need before the best perk unlocks.
- Agreement between tier lists: Roblox Den (updated Nov 6, 2026), AllThings.How (July 26, 2026) and PC Gamer (updated Dec 21, 2025). The newest list counts most, because the class lineup has changed since December.
Prices and perks come from the 99 Nights in the Forest wiki’s Classes page, a fan wiki that was last edited Nov 6, 2026. Player counts come from Roblox’s own game page.

S tier: the best classes and why
All six S-tier picks have one thing in common: they can handle a run alone. Here is what each one does, according to the wiki’s perk text.
Vampire (600 Diamonds)
Melee hits build lifesteal energy, and Vampire runs faster at night. Level 2 gives better night vision. To get there, heal 450 HP through lifesteal and deal 5,000 damage. Level 3 adds stronger lifesteal healing and needs 1,000 healing and 15,000 damage. Along with Necromancer, it is the only class all three lists put in S tier.
Necromancer (600 Diamonds)
Necromancer collects souls from dead cultists and uses its staff to bring them back as allies. You can have up to 6 summons. At Level 2 your resurrected cultists hit harder, which takes 5,000 damage from summons and 100 resurrections. Every list agrees it starts slow, but gets very strong once the army is built.
Lumberjack (70 Diamonds)
Trees have a 20% chance to drop a bonus log. Level 2 adds a 25% chance of a double sapling drop and needs 200 trees cut and 75 saplings planted. Level 3 raises the bonus to 1 or 2 extra logs and needs 500 trees and 200 saplings. It doesn’t fight any better, but AllThings.How notes that extra wood keeps walls, traps and upgrades coming from the first night to the last. That is why Roblox Den and AllThings.How both put it at the top.
Alien Scientist (600 Diamonds)
Added in the June 27, 2026 “Alien’s Revenge” update, it starts with an Alien Shotgun, a Raygun and a Dissolving Ray. Enemies under 10% HP can be dissolved into essence, which speeds up your alien energy recharge. You also get 4 extra sack spaces. Roblox Den says it takes a while to ramp up, but it is still top tier for both early and late game.
Cyborg (600 Diamonds)
Cyborg gives excellent night vision, but if your alien tech overheats, you take damage and lose some armor for a while. Level 2 makes alien tech hit harder (50 multi-target shots and 200 alien tech kills). At Level 3, kills refill alien tech energy. PC Gamer and AllThings.How rank it S. Roblox Den moved it to A after Alien Scientist arrived. We keep it in S because it still tops two of the three lists.
Fire Bandit (200 Diamonds)
You start with an Infernal Crossbow and a Wildfire potion. Level 2 gives your other tools a chance to set enemies on fire (100 fire kills and 200 enemies set alight). Level 3 adds a 10% chance of Wildfire as a bonus chest drop. Roblox Den and AllThings.How say the crossbow never runs out of ammo, which makes this the best value in the shop.

If your group already has a fighter, the wiki’s community recommendations page lists Chef (150), Medic (40) and Base Defender (40) as team support picks. Medic and Base Defender rank low in solo play, so only buy them if you play with the same friends.
Classes to skip
Camper and Escape Artist cost only 10 Diamonds, but their perks are small. Camper’s Level 1 is 10% less hunger drain. Escape Artist’s is a smaller hunger penalty when you sprint. Undead gains its bonuses by being revived, and Berserker’s perks pay off at low HP. Roblox Den says both expect you to take damage, which is the opposite of how you survive. Feaster costs 150 Diamonds, and Roblox Den and AllThings.How say it burns through food. Save for Lumberjack instead.
Event classes: Witch, Gifting Elf and the rest
Event classes are bought with event currency, not Diamonds. The wiki lists them as limited-time classes.

The Witch throws potions that damage enemies or apply a random effect, and at Level 2 those potions heal allies. Gifting Elf gets a Red Present blueprint every 3 minutes to give to teammates. If you still have Halloween Candy, note that the official Hedge Maze Refresh listing, the last Halloween event, ends Nov 7 at 10:30 UTC. How to buy and level up classes in 99 Nights in the Forest
- Buy classes at the General Store on the left of the lobby, or press the Classes button on the left of your screen (wiki).
- Every class starts at Level 1. Finish its two counters (for example, trees cut and saplings planted) to unlock Level 2, then Level 3. Level 3 is the max.
- You can skip the grind with Robux: 250 Robux for Level 2 and 400 Robux for Level 3 (Level 3 only after Level 2).
- Since the Sept. 19, 2026 shop rework, every Diamond class can be bought at any time. A few random classes get 10% to 20% off each day, so check the shop before you spend.

New classes in 2026 (why older tier lists look different)
According to the wiki’s update log, the game added Grenadier, Feaster, Nightcrawler and Gunslinger on Feb. 6, 2026. Alien Scientist followed on June 27. Escape Artist, Elemental and Woodsman arrived on Sept. 5. That is why PC Gamer’s December 2025 list doesn’t rank them. Woodsman is our one big disagreement with Roblox Den. It costs 600 Diamonds for a lumber job Lumberjack already does at 70, and the wiki’s own page says it is considered worse than Lumberjack, so we place it in B.
The game is still one of Roblox’s biggest: 93,673 people were playing at about 07:17 UTC on Nov 6, according to its Roblox page. It is made by the verified group Grandma’s Favourite Games. Play the class’s own job. Each level asks for specific counts, like 500 trees for Lumberjack Level 3. You can also pay 250 Robux for Level 2 or 400 Robux for Level 3.
