According to Nick on Xbox Era Podcast, a 2D Prince of Persia game is currently in development at Ubisoft, but he does not know what stage it is at currently. He recently revealed on Twitter that Jordan Mechner would be the one working on it with Ubisoft.
Nick has been right about multiple things he has said in the past, such as the Ghost of Tsushima DLC information.
Jordan Mechner is the guy behind the Prince of Persia IP itself; he also worked with Ubisoft on Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.
Jordan Mechner previously expressed interest in working on more Prince of Persia games in an interview with VG247 previously as well.
I cannot wait for this 2D Prince of Persia game. To be honest, I always liked 2D Prince of Persia more.
Prince of Persia is finally back after all these years with the Sands of Time Remake that currently does not have any release date and this 2D Prince of Persia Game with Jordan Mechner.
I hope that after the Sands of Time Remake, they make a new 3D Prince of Persia game too, so they can satisfy fans of both type of games.
