The Jurassic World Evolution 3 dinosaur list now has 121 species in Frontier’s official in-game database: 86 from the October 2025 launch, 14 returning species added free in updates, and 21 from paid DLC. Below is every one of them, split by where it comes from, with the diet, era, length and weight the database gives for each (checked October 29, 2026, 22:30 UTC, after Update 1.5.5).
Quick answer
- Total: 121 species in the official Jurassic World Evolution 3 dinosaur database, covering dinosaurs, pterosaurs, marine reptiles, fish, synapsids and hybrids.
- Base game: 86 species. The Steam page describes this as “over 85” species, 75 of them with full family units (male, female and juvenile).
- Free updates: 14 species so far, from the Kentrosaurus (November 2025) to the Pentaceratops and Crichtonsaurus (October 21, 2026). You get them automatically.
- Paid DLC: 21 species across five packs: Deluxe Upgrade Pack (4), Wetlands (3), Rebirth Expansion (4), Crocodilia Coast (5) and Prehistoric East (5).
- Coming next: the Nigersaurus and Tylosaurus arrive free in early December 2026, alongside Frontier’s second expansion.

The Badlands Set ($4.99, the pre-order bonus) adds scenery, five blueprints and an ATV skin, but no species. The database tags some entries “Free”, “Deluxe”, “dlc” or “Expansion”. Those tags are incomplete (several free species, such as the Kentrosaurus, carry no tag), so the free-update list below goes by Frontier’s patch notes instead.
Base game dinosaurs and other species (86)
These are the species you can unlock without buying anything extra, grouped by type. Diet is the database’s own wording: “Live Prey” marks species that also hunt live animals, and “Shoal” and “Shark” are the lagoon feeding types. The database gives no length for pterosaurs.

Free dinosaurs added in updates (14)
Before launch, Frontier promised to bring back the missing Jurassic World Evolution 2 base game species free, each as a full family unit, starting with the Kentrosaurus. From January 2026 that became one species a month. There was no new species between Update 1.2.6 (March 16) and Update 1.2.8 (June 1), so the Dracorex and Liopleurodon arrived together. The Minmi was a JWE2 DLC species that Frontier added free anyway. Since the one-year anniversary post on October 21, 2026, each remaining monthly update brings two returning species instead of one.

Biggest dinosaurs in Jurassic World Evolution 3
Large species need big enclosures, so it’s worth checking sizes before you plan a park. These are the database figures:
- Longest: Titanosaurus 40 m (Rebirth Expansion), Patagotitan 30 m, Ankylodocus 28 m, Apatosaurus 27 m, Diplodocus 24 m.
- Heaviest: Dreadnoughtus 65.4 t, Titanosaurus 60 t, Brachiosaurus 56 t, Patagotitan and Megalodon 50 t each.
- Biggest land carnivores: Indominus rex 16.9 m, Giganotosaurus 15.5 m (14 t), Carcharodontosaurus 15 m (15.1 t), Spinosaurus 15 m, Distortus rex 14.5 m.
- Smallest dinosaurs: Aquilops (0.55 m, 1.5 kg), Microceratus (0.8 m), Moros Intrepidus (0.85 m), Compsognathus (1 m) and Sinosauropteryx (1.07 m, 0.99 kg).
Upcoming dinosaurs: what’s still to come
Frontier has confirmed that its second expansion will launch in early December 2026. You’ll rejoin DIN to build sanctuaries around the equator. A free update releasing at the same time adds the Nigersaurus and Tylosaurus. Neither appears in the database yet.
Several JWE2 base game species still haven’t returned. The fan-run Jurassic Park Wiki lists the Camarasaurus, Euoplocephalus, Maaradactylus, Ouranosaurus and Polacanthus as still to come in free updates. Frontier hasn’t published that list or any dates, so treat it as the community’s tally, not an announcement.
If you also play Frontier’s other management games, our Planet Zoo 2 animal list covers all 136 animals in the same way. The Planet Zoo 2 beginner guide covers money and accreditation, and our Planet Coaster 2 Spooktacular Pack guide covers the newest coaster DLC. FAQ
How many dinosaurs are in Jurassic World Evolution 3?
The official database lists 121 species as of October 29, 2026. That’s 86 in the base game, 14 free update species and 21 from paid DLC. Not all of them are dinosaurs: the total includes pterosaurs, marine reptiles, fish, two synapsids and nine hybrids or mutants.
What dinosaurs are in the Crocodilia Coast DLC?
Five: the Deinosuchus, Postosuchus, Desmatosuchus, Styxosaurus and Shonisaurus. Only the Styxosaurus and Shonisaurus are marine reptiles. The Deinosuchus is semi-aquatic and can hunt both in the water and on land.
What dinosaurs come with the Rebirth DLC?
The Rebirth Expansion adds four species: the Distortus rex, Mutadon, Titanosaurus and Aquilops. It also adds Jurassic World Rebirth movie skins and a new campaign.
Are the returning JWE2 dinosaurs free?
Yes. Every returning base game species from Jurassic World Evolution 2, from the Kentrosaurus to the Pentaceratops and Crichtonsaurus, arrived in a free update. You don’t have to buy anything to get them.
