For hero shooters, start with FRAG Pro Shooter or Farlight 84, and on PC or console, Overwatch, Marvel Rivals and Brawlhalla are all free.

Games like Brawl Stars with top-down team fights
1. Zooba: Zoo Battle Royale
Zooba is the closest match to Brawl Stars’ Showdown mode. You pick an animal character, each with its own abilities and playstyle, then fight other players online with collected weapons until one is left. You can play solo or with friends, level up abilities and climb the ranks in seasonal events. Wildlife Studios updated it on November 5, 2026.
Worth it if: Showdown is your favorite Brawl Stars mode. Note that the App Store lists both advertising and loot boxes.
2. Bullet Echo: PVP Shooter
ZeptoLab, the studio behind Cut the Rope, made a top-down team shooter with a twist: your vision is limited to the beam of a flashlight, but you can hear enemy steps and shots. You choose from dozens of heroes with their own guns and abilities, then play Team vs Team, Solo, or a Battle Royale with five small teams on one map. When you party up, every hero’s level is matched to the highest level in the group, so friends at different levels can still play together.
Worth it if: you like the tactical side of Brawl Stars and want more stealth and team play.
3. Smash Legends
Smash Legends sells itself on “3 minutes of action-packed battling fun”, which is very close to Brawl Stars’ match length. Its fairy-tale characters fight in 1v1 duels, 3v3 team modes and an 8-player Battle Royale. Two of the 3v3 modes will feel familiar: Team Touchdown (push an escort target into the enemy base) and Dominion (hold a contested area). Controls are a simple slide and tap.
Worth it if: you play Brawl Stars for its 3v3 objective modes. It’s also free on Steam.

4. FRAG Pro Shooter
FRAG is a colorful hero shooter that Oh BiBi describes as “without blood, without death”. You collect from a roster of 100 characters and build a deck of five, each with a different role, to suit an attacking or defending strategy. Clubs fight each other in Club Wars, and the developer says a new character arrives each month through the Season Pass and other routes.
Worth it if: collecting and unlocking Brawlers is what keeps you playing.
5. Mech Arena
Plarium’s Mech Arena has 25+ mechs and 90+ weapons, with 5v5 and 2v2 Deathmatch, Control Point Clash and Free-For-All modes. Matchmaking is quick and games are short.
Worth it if: you’d rather build and upgrade a hangar of mechs than collect characters. The game called “Mech Arena” on Steam is a different game by another studio (Scarlet Whale), not Plarium’s.
Games like Brawl Stars made by Supercell
6. mo.co
mo.co, released on the App Store in March 2025, is Supercell’s co-op monster hunter. You jump through portals to parallel worlds, fight monster hordes and bosses, and unlock weapons with special abilities. You can hunt solo or team up with friends or random players, and Elite Contracts add tougher fights with leaderboards. Its store description says it “never has in-game ads”. The last update was on September 29, 2026 on iOS.
Worth it if: you like Supercell’s style but would rather team up against monsters than other players.
7. Clash Royale
Clash Royale isn’t a brawler: you build a deck from 100+ cards based on Clash of Clans troops, spells and defenses, then knock down your opponent’s towers in a fast real-time match. It shares Brawl Stars’ quick sessions, Clans and seasonal Pass rewards, and it is on Google Play Games for PC.
Worth it if: you want a second Supercell game for short breaks. Current free rewards are in our Clash Royale codes page.
Hero shooters and battle royales like Brawl Stars

FRAG Pro Shooter has a roster of 100 characters for team PvP. Image: Oh BiBi (App Store)
8. Farlight 84
Farlight 84 is a hero shooter battle royale with 60 players per match. You team up with two squadmates, play as heroes with different skills, tame Buddy pets and move around the city maps with wall runs, ziplines and slides. Unlimited respawns keep the pressure low. It is also free on Steam. Both store listings were last updated in April 2026, so it gets fewer updates than the other picks.
Worth it if: you like Brawl Stars’ heroes but want a bigger, more vertical map.
9. Sausage Man
Sausage Man is a cartoon battle royale where every player is a sausage. You scavenge guns and tactical gear, revive friends and mess around in an open world between fights. It’s the only pick with no loot-box label on either store: Google Play lists in-game purchases without random items, and the App Store’s “Contains” list shows only messaging and chat.
Worth it if: you want a silly squad shooter and dislike random rewards.
Bigger team games: MOBA, fighter and party royale
10. League of Legends: Wild Rift
Riot’s mobile version of League of Legends is a full 5v5 MOBA built for phones: you lock in a champion and play around items and objectives with your team. It’s slower and more strategic than Brawl Stars. It has the lowest Google Play user rating of the 12 (3.2).
Worth it if: you want deeper team strategy and don’t mind longer games.
11. Brawlhalla
Brawlhalla is a free 2D platform fighter with 50+ Legends, including crossover fighters such as Rayman, Ryu, Aang, Ben 10 and the Master Chief. Up to 8 players fight in one online match, with ranked 1v1 and 2v2 and custom rooms. Its official site lists full cross-play across PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
Worth it if: your friends play on different devices.
12. Stumble Guys
Stumble Guys is a 32-player party royale: you race through obstacle courses across 60+ maps and try to be the last one standing. It also has tournaments, a Ranked leaderboard and thousands of skins and emotes to collect. It’s the only pick rated Everyone on Google Play, but both stores list ads. Free gems, when there are any, are on our Stumble Guys codes page.
Worth it if: you mostly play with friends or younger players and want something lighter.
Games like Brawl Stars that are shutting down

- Pokémon UNITE: The Pokémon Company says service ends on March 23, 2027 at 00:00 UTC on both Switch and mobile. Details are in our Pokémon UNITE end of service FAQ.
