The best Cafeteria Nipponica recipes are Kaiseki Cuisine (Sashimi + Tasty Fish + Matsutake), which can sell for up to $160, and Yakiniku (Hot Pot + Marbled Beef + Secret Sauce), which tops out at $150. Top-Grade Sushi is the best value: Sashimi plus Organic Rice and Soy Sauce, two cheap ingredients, makes an SSS dish. Early on, Hot Pot is the standout. Every ingredient for it comes from the first region’s hunts, and it can still reach a $95 price.
This guide answers one question: which dishes to cook, and the exact recipe for each one. Every combo below comes from the recipe tables on the Kairosoft Wiki, which list 83 dishes, 77 of them cookable. We checked them on October 31, 2026 against a full recipe list a player posted as a Steam community guide (last updated in August 2026). The two sources agree on all but three dishes, and those are flagged. Prices are the wiki’s maximum (“cap”) price for each dish.
Table of Contents
Quick answer
- Highest price: Kaiseki Cuisine, $160 cap, SSS taste and appeal.
- Next best: Yakiniku ($150), Ikizukuri ($125), Bird’s Nest Soup ($120), Top-Grade Sushi ($100).
- Best value late in the game: Top-Grade Sushi = Sashimi + Organic Rice + Soy Sauce.
- Best early dish: Hot Pot = Seafood Soup + Chinese Cabbage + Boned Chicken ($95 cap). Seafood Soup is Udon + Secret Sauce.
- Key unlock: Sashimi (Grilled Fish + Tasty Fish + Soy Sauce) leads to three of the five best dishes.
- How cooking works: Develop Dish takes a base dish, 1 or 2 ingredients and a chef. The chef’s Research must be at least the total of the stars.
- You don’t need the recipe item: according to the wiki, the right combination makes the dish even if no event has given you its recipe.
Cafeteria Nipponica best recipes (highest price first)
The wiki lists a base price and a cap price for each dish. The cap is what you can charge once the dish is fully developed. Taste and appeal are the maximum grades the wiki gives (SSS is the top grade; 999 is the highest value).
| Dish | Recipe | Base to max price | Max taste / appeal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kaiseki Cuisine | Sashimi + Tasty Fish + Matsutake | $25 to $160 | SSS / SSS |
| Yakiniku | Hot Pot + Marbled Beef + Secret Sauce | $30 to $150 | SS / SS |
| Ikizukuri | Sashimi + Sea Bream + Squid | $35 to $125 | SSS / SSS |
| Bird’s Nest Soup | Shark Fin Soup + Caviar + Foie Gras | $35 to $120 | SSS / SSS |
| Top-Grade Sushi | Sashimi + Organic Rice + Soy Sauce | $37 to $100 | SSS / SSS |
| Hamburger Steak | Sauteed Chicken + Marbled Beef + Carrot | $15 to $98 | A / A |
| Kid’s Lunch | Hamburger Steak + Marbled Beef + Secret Sauce | $35 to $95 | SSS / SSS |
| Beef Curry | Curry n’ Rice + Marbled Beef | $35 to $95 | S / S |
| Shark Fin Soup | Seafood Soup + Tasty Fish + Secret Sauce | $35 to $95 | A / A |
| Hot Pot | Seafood Soup + Chinese Cabbage + Boned Chicken | $15 to $95 | B / C |
| Steak | Sauteed Chicken + Boned Chicken + Green Onion | $27 to $92 | B / B |
| Sashimi | Grilled Fish + Tasty Fish + Soy Sauce | $32 to $91 | A / A |
| Gold Ice Cream | Ice Cream + Gold Flakes | $25 to $80 | SSS / SSS |
Gold Ice Cream has a lower price cap than the others, but it’s the only dessert that reaches SSS. It’s also a single-ingredient recipe, which helps when your chefs’ Research is still low.

How Develop Dish works
New dishes come from cooking, which the game calls Develop Dish. You pick a base dish you can already serve, add one or two ingredients, and choose a chef. The chef works on it overnight, while the restaurant is closed. The wiki says the store closes from 9:10 PM to 9:50 AM, but cooking stops at about 7:00 AM.
The limit is Research. According to the wiki, a chef can only cook when their Research stat is at least the total stars of the dish and its ingredients. One of Kairosoft’s own screenshots shows how it adds up: Hot Pot (1 star), Top-Class Pork (5) and Prize Mushroom (2) total 8 stars against a chef’s Research of 25, and the game confirms “This should make Sumo Stew.” The stars shown for a dish on that screen can differ from the rank the wiki lists, so check the Total line in the game before you commit a chef.
Cooking a combo that isn’t a recipe is still useful. It raises the stats of the dish you already serve, and better stats let you charge a higher price.
Best early-game recipes (cheap ingredients)
All of these use ingredients from the first region’s hunts (Sunny Village: Local Woods, Steep Hill and Local Farm, $200 to $500 a trip), apart from Tasty Fish, which comes from the Fishery in Greenville.
| Dish | Recipe | Max price | Why it’s good early |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hot Pot | Seafood Soup + Chinese Cabbage + Boned Chicken | $95 | Highest cap of any early dish. Later it’s the base for Yakiniku and Sumo Stew |
| Combo Ramen | Ramen + Soy Sauce + Fresh Eggs | $80 | Ramen is just Udon + Boned Chicken |
| Tuna Bowl* | Rice + Tasty Fish + Soy Sauce | $72 | Reaches A taste and A appeal |
| Indian Curry | Curry n’ Rice + Flour + Herbs | $72 | A taste; it’s on the curry chain anyway |
| Hayashi Rice | Curry n’ Rice + Tomato | $70 | Only one ingredient |
| Chicken Bowl | Rice + Boned Chicken | $65 | Base for the Pork Bowl and Eel Bowl |
*The Steam guide lists Tuna Bowl as Rice + Tasty Fish + Secret Sauce, so if Soy Sauce doesn’t work in your version, try Secret Sauce.
Curry n’ Rice is Fried Rice (Rice + Carrot) + Hot Spices. According to the wiki, Rice comes with the Snacks starting menu and Udon comes with the Japanese one. Pick based on which chain you want to start first.
Recipe chains to the top dishes
Kaiseki Cuisine, Ikizukuri and Top-Grade Sushi (the Sashimi chain)
- Get Grilled Fish. It can’t be cooked. The wiki says it comes from chests at the Craggy Rocks and Fisher’s House hunts (Ocean View).
- Cook Sashimi: Grilled Fish + Tasty Fish + Soy Sauce. According to the wiki’s customer table, the Celebrity customer also hands you Sashimi when you serve them Grilled Fish.
- Then branch out: Top-Grade Sushi (+ Organic Rice + Soy Sauce), Ikizukuri (+ Sea Bream + Squid, both at the Fish Market), and Kaiseki Cuisine (+ Tasty Fish + Matsutake).
Yakiniku and Sumo Stew (the Hot Pot chain)
- Seafood Soup = Udon + Secret Sauce.
- Hot Pot = Seafood Soup + Chinese Cabbage + Boned Chicken.
- Yakiniku = Hot Pot + Marbled Beef + Secret Sauce. Sumo Stew = Hot Pot + Top-Class Pork + Prize Mushroom ($88 cap).
Kid’s Lunch and Hamburger Steak (the Sauteed Chicken chain)
- Sauteed Chicken comes from a chest at the Fishery hunt, according to the wiki.
- Hamburger Steak = Sauteed Chicken + Marbled Beef + Carrot. The wiki says the Eating Champ customer also gives you Hamburger Steak when you serve them Sauteed Chicken.
- Kid’s Lunch = Hamburger Steak + Marbled Beef + Secret Sauce (SSS).
Bird’s Nest Soup (the most expensive ingredients)
- Shark Fin Soup = Seafood Soup + Tasty Fish + Secret Sauce.
- Bird’s Nest Soup = Shark Fin Soup + Caviar + Foie Gras. Both ingredients come from the last region’s hunts, so it’s an endgame dish.
Beef Curry (the curry chain)
- Fried Rice = Rice + Carrot, then Curry n’ Rice = Fried Rice + Hot Spices.
- Beef Curry = Curry n’ Rice + Marbled Beef (S taste and appeal, $95 cap).

Where to find the key ingredients
Ingredient hunts open four times a year, in months 1, 4, 7 and 10. You pay a fee and send staff to one of 15 locations, three for each store region. You can also buy ingredients from Pumpkin Products. These are the hunts that stock the ingredients for the dishes above, from the wiki’s hunt table.
| Ingredient | Hunt location (region) | Hunt fee | Used in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Secret Sauce, Soy Sauce, Carrot, Flour, Fresh Eggs | Local Woods (Sunny Village) | $0.2K | Seafood Soup, Sashimi, Fried Rice, Yakiniku, Kid’s Lunch |
| Boned Chicken, Chinese Cabbage, Organic Rice, Herbs | Local Farm (Sunny Village) | $0.5K | Hot Pot, Ramen, Top-Grade Sushi, Indian Curry |
| Tasty Fish | Fishery (Greenville) | $1.8K | Sashimi, Kaiseki, Shark Fin Soup, Tuna Bowl |
| Sea Bream, Squid | Fish Market (Ocean View) | $3.5K | Ikizukuri |
| Marbled Beef, Top-Class Pork | Contract Farmer (Uni Town) | $12K | Yakiniku, Beef Curry, Hamburger Steak, Kid’s Lunch |
| Matsutake, Gold Flakes | Dept. Store (Heavenly Hills) | $50K | Kaiseki Cuisine, Gold Ice Cream |
| Caviar | NY Market (Heavenly Hills) | $65K | Bird’s Nest Soup |
| Foie Gras | Kairo Island (Heavenly Hills) | $80K | Bird’s Nest Soup |
Matsutake is a 9-star ingredient on its own, according to the wiki, and Caviar and Foie Gras are 10 stars each. So the top recipes need a chef with high Research as well as a big hunt budget.
Dishes customers give you
Some regulars hand you a new dish when you serve them a particular one. The ones that save you the most cooking, according to the wiki’s customer pages:
- Celebrity: serve Grilled Fish, get Sashimi (the start of the best chain).
- Eating Champ: serve Sauteed Chicken, get Hamburger Steak.
- Hina: serve Rice, get Soba. Soba can’t be cooked and is the base for Yakisoba.
- Manager: serve Seafood Soup, get Corn Chowder (otherwise it needs Sweet Corn).
- Little Girl: serve Fried Rice, get Chicken Bowl. Artist: serve Karaage, get Yakitori.
Customers fall into six groups (Students, Youth, Businessmen, Housewives, Elderly and Tourists), and each group rates you mainly on one food stat. The wiki lists Brain UP for Students, Texture for Youth, Appearance for Housewives and Rarity for Tourists. It gives “Health UP” for both Businessmen and Elderly, which looks like a mistake, so we’ve left those two out.
How to max out Kaiseki Cuisine
Once you’ve made Kaiseki Cuisine, you can keep cooking it with more ingredients to raise its stats. The Steam guide’s author shares this order: Gold Flakes + Top-Class Pork for the first four rounds, Sea Bream + Small Clam for the fifth, Aged Cheese + Fresh Eggs for the sixth, and Aged Cheese alone for the seventh. The author says taste and appeal may not both reach 999 this way, but the price hits the $160 cap and all eight stats max out. The English wiki’s trivia section mentions a perfect 100-in-every-stat Kaiseki finished with Green Onion. Both are player findings, not official numbers.
The same guide recommends a one-dish menu. Every customer then orders that dish, and you only pay the monthly cost for one menu item. You can see that monthly cost next to each dish in the Dishes screen.
