Take-Two Interactive, the company behind blockbuster games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, has clarified its stance on releasing games on Xbox Game Pass on day one. CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the company prefers not to launch its games on the subscription service from the start, as it is not a rational decision for them.

During a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Zelnick highlighted that Take-Two evaluates its release strategies carefully. While the addition of Call of Duty to Game Pass is expected to boost subscription numbers temporarily, Zelnick made it clear that this strategy does not align with Take-Two’s business model.

Zelnick’s approach underscores Take-Two’s confidence in the strength of its titles, which have consistently performed well without relying on subscription models.

Despite the ongoing trend of day-one releases on platforms like Xbox Game Pass, it appears unlikely that Take-Two will follow suit with its major upcoming releases, including the highly anticipated GTA 6.
