Pikmin 4 version 2.0.0 is out (Nov 4) and readies the game for the Switch 2 Edition on Nov 12. Full patch notes, how to update and every past update.

Nintendo released Pikmin 4 version 2.0.0 on November 4, 2026, and this Pikmin 4 update is the groundwork for the Switch 2 Edition. It adds support for Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, a title screen link to the upgrade pack on Switch 2, and general fixes on both consoles. The Switch 2 Edition itself unlocks for upgrade pack owners on November 12, 2026, according to Nintendo’s support page.

Below: the full 2.0.0 patch notes, how to update, and every earlier update Nintendo lists. Your save data stays put. Checked 07:32 UTC on November 5.

Pikmin 4 2.0.0 full patch notes

Nintendo splits the notes by console. In our own words:

On Nintendo Switch 2

  • Switch 2 Edition support added. Nintendo notes that people who bought the upgrade pack can play beginning November 12, 2026.
  • New title screen option. “About the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” now shows in the title screen menu when you start Pikmin 4 on Switch 2. It opens the upgrade pack page on the Nintendo eShop.

On Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch

  • “Fixed other issues to improve the gameplay experience.” Nintendo doesn’t list which ones.

Notes from Nintendo

  • Taking exams and downloading distributed stages in Dandori Academy need an internet connection.
  • The Pikmin 4 demo got a patch with the same changes (also Ver. 2.0.0), and the Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy demo is out now.

What changes before the Switch 2 Edition launches

On the original Switch, nothing changes beyond the unnamed fixes. On Switch 2, you get the new title screen option, but the new features stay locked until November 12. Nintendo says this update must be installed for any Switch 2 Edition content to work, so installing it now gets you ready for day one.

Nintendo’s US store lists what the Switch 2 Edition adds:

  • Improved visuals on Switch 2.
  • Dandori Academy, a series of Dandori exams for training your Pikmin skills.
  • Voice commands for Oatchi through the Switch 2 microphone.
  • Dandori Battles against friends via GameShare, locally or online through GameChat, even if they don’t own the game.

How to update Pikmin 4 on Switch 2 or Switch

  1. Connect your Switch 2 or Switch to the internet (System Settings or Settings, then Internet).
  2. On the HOME Menu, highlight Pikmin 4 without starting it.
  3. Press the + or – Button. The installed version number appears under the title.
  4. Choose Software Update, then Via the Internet.

If Software Auto-Updates is on, the patch downloads and installs by itself while the console is online. Nintendo also suggests checking your storage space first.

Pikmin 4 update history

Nintendo’s support page lists four updates. Here are the main points of each:

Version Released Main changes
2.0.0 November 4, 2026 Switch 2 Edition support, title screen link to the upgrade pack, general fixes
1.1.1 December 16, 2025 Oatchi “Go to Work” fix, Roll Over carries over all of Oatchi’s skills, Relaxed and Fierce creature fixes, Decor Pikmin and Pikmin Bloom sync fixes, new “Tap A Repeatedly to Lock” setting
1.1.0 November 11, 2025 Free content update: Relaxed, Normal and Fierce creature activity levels, the Field Camera and photo stamps, Decor Pikmin with Pikmin Bloom seedlings, Roll Over new game, skippable intro, new control options
1.0.2 September 26, 2023 Fixes for disappearing treasures, stuck side-mission dialogue and glow sap shortages, plus a loading-screen progress bar

Worth knowing if you’re new: per Nintendo’s store page, Relaxed creatures never attack first and take more damage, while Fierce means tougher enemies with fewer Pikmin. Pikmin Bloom players can find more walking games in our list of games like Pokémon GO.
