Everything We Know About Avatar: The Frontiers of Pandora So Far
Written by Srishti

At Ubisoft’s recent E3 showcase, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora shocked us with a first glance inside the gorgeous realm of Pandora. While some may have been surprised by the news, Ubisoft had already announced the project in a YouTube video in early 2017. Massive Entertainment (The Division’s developers), Light storm Entertainment (James Cameron’s studio), and Fox Interactive (Fox’s game division that has been defunct for 18 years) collaborated on this footage.
After four years of rumors, the game was revived, with Fox no longer participating since Disney acquired the company. Now we must wait for the official gameplay to appear. Until then, here’s all we know about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, including the most recent details about its release date, gameplay, story, and location.

The release date for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set for 2022. We won’t be seeing it early because Ubisoft is also releasing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Extraction and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake in the first quarter of this year.
Other Ubisoft games planned to release in 2022 include Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and, according to a Ubisoft earnings report, Skull & Bones, which might arrive between 2022 and 2023. Frontiers of Pandora’s release date are unknown, however, we anticipate a gameplay video at E3 2022 and a release in late 2022 or early 2023.
Rainbow Six: Extraction was confirmed for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass by Ubisoft at the start of the year. Because Ubisoft+ will be available on Xbox in the future, it’s feasible that we’ll see more of Frontiers of Pandora at an Xbox event (perhaps in June) or a Ubisoft Forward in the coming months.

With the release of the official Avatar 2: The Way of Water trailer, the film and game could be in for a quick release. The film will be released in theatres in December, and the game may follow soon after.

There will also be an Avatar mobile game named Avatar: Reckoning, which will be released in 2022. We know it’ll be a shooter with large multiplayer online components, but we don’t know much else about it.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has yet to receive a gameplay demonstration or trailer, although the first-look trailer contains a few hints. Much of the cutscene, for example, takes place in first-person perspective, making it similar to Far Cry. Players may be exploring Pandora’s perilous jungles while battling the Resources Development Administration (RDA) forces to keep them from ruining the moon’s wildlife’s sacredness.

We can anticipate the game to take full advantage of the technology and present a magnificent environment with lightning-fast load times, given that it will be released solely on next-gen consoles and PC. According to Ubisoft’s website, the game will be “an immersive, open-world experience.”

The plot of Avatar: Frontier of Pandora is largely unknown. There was no footage or information on a theme or tone when the game was first introduced. Fans speculated that the game and the Avatar 2 film might be linked through some form of plot connection. It’s still possible that both will be published at the same time or share a promotional run.
According to Ubisoft’s website, the game will transport players to the Western Frontier, a “never-before-seen section of Pandora.” It will also be “a living and dynamic environment inhabited by unusual species and fresh characters,” according to the website. It also describes the game as a “standalone story,” implying that it will be unrelated to the sequel in any way. Because our character is merely referred to be a “Navi” rather than given a specific name, players may be able to build their character.

Pandora, a lush moon orbiting the gas giant Polyphemus, is the setting for James Cameron’s Avatar series. Players will explore the Western Frontier in Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Because this is a previously unseen side of the moon, Massive Entertainment will not be bound by the film’s renowned locales. The developers will still be able to use Pandora’s wildlife and vegetation to create something distinctive, but hopefully, the references and callbacks will be kept to a minimum. In terms of what to expect while exploring the moon, RDA bases may be dotted across each zone, and the player will have to infiltrate them to release the sector from military control. I’d be the polar opposite of Far Cry, in which players may even explore environments to safeguard species from poachers.

Massive Entertainment wants to make sure that players aren’t stuck exploring jungles over and over again when creating this environment. To make this ecosystem feel as gorgeous as it does in the film, Pandora needs to be diverse with unique biomes and unusual weather patterns.
