Thanks to Gamerant, Cold War was noted to have an incredibly high file size. Much like Modern Warfare (2019) before it, Cold War takes up an alarmingly large amount of space on all platforms. Currently, its multiplayer alone takes up 155GB of storage, which is enough to encompass a number of games already. Activision has made options to allow players to lessen the amount of storage it takes up, but evidently, it is nowhere near enough right now, and the players are making their voices be heard through social media, complaining and criticizing the games for taking up so much space.
Modern Warfare and Cold War combined take up more than half of the 500GB on a standard PS4 system, not leaving much space for other games. Treyarch’s entry into the long-running series has been criticized for constantly adding new maps, modes and other things into the title while being unable to reduce the game’s file size. To compare, the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Cold War alone is bigger than Jedi Fallen Order, and It Takes Two’s combined sizes. With another Call of Duty on the way this year, one can only hope that they finally manage to fix this surprisingly present issue with their games.
