Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has dramatically boosted Bandai Namco’s digital operating profit by 553% year-over-year. Released on June 21, 2024, the expansion has already sold five million copies, surpassing expectations and contributing to a significant rise in the company’s revenue.
Bandai Namco’s financial report highlighted that the DLC’s success led to a 24.8% increase in net sales and a 56.3% rise in overall profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2024. The report stated, “On the business side, ELDEN RING SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE, the major downloadable content of the home console game ELDEN RING, was a hit, contributing to the operating results in the Digital Business.”
The massive success of Shadow of the Erdtree has not only dominated sales charts but has also outshined major releases in 2024. This achievement has set a new standard in the gaming industry, rivaling other top DLCs like Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine.
Despite the incredible success, fans are already demanding more content, hoping for another expansion. However, FromSoftware has no plans for a new DLC at this time.
