EA Maxis’ job listings suggest that they are working on an unannounced game on Job Listings they have stated that “We’re looking for a skilled Software Engineer Intern who will become part of our team for the summer and create an incredible experience for our players. We’re picturing someone who is passionate about Maxis games and is invigorated by the idea of working on a completely new game. If this sounds like you, we’re looking forward to seeing your resume!”
“Maxis in Austin, Texas is looking for a Senior Character Artist to join our successful development team working on a new IP.”.
“Lead our art team in the creation of a new, unannounced title”
“We are gearing up for our next big production”
“Experienced at establishing art vision and guidelines, preferable on new IPs”
“collaborating with others to develop excellent user experiences for new IP”
There is a high chance that this could be the next Sims game they also stated
“Collaborate closely with Art, Design, & Animation teams to create beautiful effects that offer creative solutions to design challenges, add life to the game world, and create wow moments for the users.”
“stylized interpretations of real-world visual effects following our game’s art direction”.
“Experience launching a live service.”
“Experience producing effects such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, and explosions.”
“Experience with run-time dynamic systems for physics-based animation, impact interactions, destruction, water, cloth & hair sim, etc.”
“Extend the game’s aesthetic vision beyond core game visuals to cohesively support UI/UX, Live Services and marketing considerations”
Their next Game might even have a live service and an online multiplayer mode which seems pretty interesting since The Sims franchise has never gone on that route except one time. The game might be unveiled in 2021 since it’s in early production but an official announcement about it could come this year at E3. The game could be an MMO since they mentioned “Live Services”.
