Mafia 2 Definitive Edition is unplayable on Consoles due to Frame Rate issues

Written by Admin

2K Recently released Mafia Trilogy Definitive Edition, which includes a Mafia 1 Remake, Mafia 2 Remaster, and Mafia 3. Mafia 1 Remake is releasing in August, but now let’s talk about the frame rate issues on Mafia 2 Remaster, You can’t drive cars properly there are a lot of frame rate issues while driving, and the controls have input lag as well.

Nearly all of the important aspects in Mafia 2 feel very outdated, for example, the gunplay is very clunky, and there are a lot of framerate drops while driving not to mention the sound issues you cannot properly hear anything if you are using headphones and the Motion Capture isn’t properly synched there are even framerate drops during cutscenes.

Mafia 2 has frame rate drops in nearly every section, It is very annoying and the game is nearly 10 years old, 2k couldn’t even give us 1080p and stable 30FPS for a 10-year-old game.

The Texture pop-ins are annoying too I noticed them during every second of my Playthrough.

Mafia 2 also forces you to make a Take-Two account, and if you don’t it will keep popping up to remind you to make a Take-Two account which is pretty annoying.

Players who pre-order Mafia: Definitive Edition – as well as players who purchase the digital version or pre-order the physical version of Mafia: Trilogy – before August 28 will receive “The Chicago Outfit” bonus add-on content for Mafia: Definitive Edition. This content pack includes:

  • Exclusive Player Outfit: The Don;
  • Exclusive Vehicle: Smith V12 Limousine;
  • Exclusive Weapon Skin: Gold Semi-Automatic.

Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia II: Definitive Edition, and Mafia III: Definition Edition is also available for purchase individually. The Definitive Editions for Mafia II and Mafia III are available today within the Mafia: Trilogy and as standalone purchases on Xbox One, PlayStation® 4, and PC via Steam, and will be coming to the Epic Games Store and Stadia at a later date in regions where Stadia is available. Both Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition features all original bonus add-on content, plus completely remastered 4K compatible visuals for Mafia II.

What is the excuse for this horrendous port though?

  • Pretty bummed about it.

    I bought the trilogy on my PS4 Pro and while playing Mafia 2 it’s everything you described.
    I closed the game out of disappointment and sat for a while thinking oh boy it can’t be that bad then when starting it up I remembered why again. Should I get a refund if possible? I feel jipped because I already own Mafia 3 and just to get Mafia 1 & 2 I have to buy the trilogy. That’s like what $40 for M1 and $20 for M2?

    Why is the game industry like this.. you’re telling me humans in a collective can’t make a flawless game? Doesn’t 2K and Hangar 13 have money and time?

    Idk I’m just a consumer who has no idea what a game would look like if I really wanted to impress the public and gain a following to help with stocks and sales.

    Maybe a refund is the right thing to do.

  • P.S. I heard a trophy is unobtainable after getting 50 kills or some shit. Be a real shame if people toughed through the bullshit fps drops and sound quality to get trophies to find out one is obtainable. Like me on Mafia 3 unable to get the Wrecker trophy.
    PSN: Hamtaro-Senpai
    Trophy is just sitting there.

  • I feel very disappointed in this game! Don’t get me wrong I liked on the 360 and having played the remastered version there is such bad frame rate problems like it’s been rush to get completed. Surely these are tested before release how can you not notice that!!

    I would much prefer a refunded very disappointed!!😡

  • This is not exclusive to PS4, the game is also running like ass on PC. Framerate wise it’s fine, but constant micro stuttering while driving, seems to have some kind of issue with texture streaming or shader cache. The frametime graph looks like an heartbeat in some moments. Atrocious.
